I have struggled with a decision on the VSP offer. I have found myself really concerned if I accept and my request is denied it could be viewed by leadership, that I am not as loyal. Starting to see VSP offer as possibly an opportunity, If I felt I could stay without layoff that would be my first choice. Hoping any VSP acceptance does no appear as I don't want to be here any longer. How many other feel the same?

@OP you should only be loyal to your paycheck. Your team, managers and above are your tools to get a better pay rate.
How in the world is anyone worried about being loyal to this place, do you believe for one second they feel any thing to the employees in their decisions? You are employee number X-X, Your Metrics are X-X, you make the company X-X, and you cost the company X-X, and you work in X-X. If any of those 5 numbers falls out of the reports you are out.
At no point is anything else considered, if you are under the impression you have the tenure you have since you are loyal your misinformed you've just dodged the bullets.
@ac that’s not what the vsp states. It states your leadership won’t find out you accepted UNTIL 7/3. Then they are in on the decision apparently.
Multiple years invested. Countless hours spent picking up the slack for people who couldn’t be bothered to do their jobs.
And this is how loyalty is rewarded? By extending a VSP that might not even get approved?
At some point, trying to be loyal starts to feel like a waste of time. They’ve made it pretty clear how little that loyalty is valued.
OneCenTeam? More like #OneMassiveDumpOnUs
You DO NOT have to advise anyone of you applying for the VSP. They are not allowed to persuade or even ask you about it. If you choose to take it they wont know until after its been approved. If you want validation ask HR
As others have stated, do whats best for you and your family. You will get through this! We will all get through it!
@a1 thanks for the advice. I am struggling with talking to my people leader about this as I am accepting the offer and hope it does get accepted. It’s not personal to the team which I love working with, but have to do what is best for me as this is the 2nd time with this company.
YOU DONT WANT TO SEEM DISLOYAL???? To the company willing to lay you off when things go bad? Sir/ma'am F what they feel. Do what's best for you
This company isn't loyal to its employees - why should you worry about being loyal to it? That kind of mentality worrying about what others think about you is what is going to keep you stuck in a dead end job like this forever. AND it is a dead end job when they have pulled every incentive & growth opportunity off the table to double down on the AI narrative, outsource and save their own as--s.
The company isn’t loyal to its workers dont worry bout being loyal to them. Worry about loving right now and what’s best for you.
my advice is to not worry about perception, many of our People Leaders are considering taking it or are accepting it.
no one should be making assumptions as to reasons behind why you accepted the VSP.
I hear you, but make the decision that’s best for you. f*ck what your leadership thinks.
if you apply for the VSP, don’t get accepted and don’t get laid off, let your work speak for itself.
we’re human and some people are just done with a lot, some people may take this as a mental health break. many people are struggling right now.
so again, do what is best for you. and best of luck to you.
As a people leader - declined applications are going to be rare. I wouldn’t worry about that perception. That said, if you were declined I’m sure your leader would appreciate an open conversation about your reasons for applying to begin with - that way they’ll know where you were coming from and you can clear the air if the loyalty perception is a concern to you. But like I said - I don’t think most, if any, will be declined. Those will be reserved for areas where the entire team applies.
