BTC Sales to BMT Electrical

They’re pulling folks straight out of sales teams in India and dropping them into maintenance and engineering gigs on site?
Latest one: Girl with 7 years in BTC sales just landed an electrical engineer role in BMT. And the announcements are full of these examples.
I’m genuinely disgusted and disappointed. When did “fit the role” stop mattering for jobs that keep operations safe and running?

This is pure abuse of L1/L2 visa. Someone should report this

According to Global Projects, there are only four electrical engineers in EMTEC.

No surprise that the refinery will put "Sales" in charge of the electrical engineering contractors.

Just look the other way, work on your resume, have your next option line up.

Let the person have their visa and you move on to a bigger better thing.

Report it to internal hotline investigations.

What do we know. XOM has all the time in the world to do divestments. They have the time in the world to flip the company into a top heavy internal political nightmare for the common worker. All the changes. All the wrong people moving into impactful spots. It’s part of it. If your a reasonable person who’ve left already or getting ready to. If you think you will be promoted without any political backing you are naïve.

All the BTC responding. They are angry and all want to come to the US. Why not stay in your country and make it better?

@a1
You clueless dimwit
this isn’t about “holding the candle during the interview.”
It’s about blatant L-1 visa abuse. A girl with 7 years in BTC sales (zero engineering background) just got dropped into an electrical engineer maintenance role at the site.
L-1 rules demand specialized knowledge or managerial experience in the actual field. Sales to site electrical engineering isn’t “specialized knowledge”
it’s cheap labor gaming that skips qualified Americans.
The announcements are full of these mismatches. This isn’t a one-off “qualified” case. It’s the pattern.
Merit, safety, and protecting US workers in critical roles matter more than your low-effort deflection.

Not shocked. All the tax breaks they get and they can’t even be bothered to hire local.
