Video: Schulman on AI Job Elimination

https://youtu.be/IbiKFm5_was

Key takeaways include:
• Workforce Disruption: Schulman acknowledges that Al will inevitably displace a large percentage of traditional customer service roles, particularly those handling routine, repetitive tasks like password resets or billing inquiries (1:10 - 1:29).
• Human-Al Collaboration: Rather than full automation, he envisions a hybrid approach where Al and human agents work in tandem to resolve more complex customer issues, ultimately improving service quality (1:32 - 2:09).
• Future Technological Outlook: Schulman emphasizes that Fortune 100 companies must embrace the ongoing technological revolution. He predicts that society will reach AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) within the next two to four years, followed by breakthroughs in quantum computing and humanoid robotics shortly thereafter (2:17 - 2:57).
• Corporate Responsibility: He stresses that as these advancements unfold, corporate leaders and society as a whole must be prepared and accept the responsibility that comes with managing these powerful technoloaies (3:00 - 3:13).

@bf - i believe this "ai flows are improving net adds, accessories, and lowering churn by almost 40% in the digital channels" - i believe 'automation' will happen in cases where it needs to happen. there are so many areas where the number of edge cases (talking to you veymo) is making AI look silly. also, no intelligence, it's all patter recognition.

I think it's possible that things are farther along than we know and that we, the masses, are just at the start, but that it's far beyond our capabilities bc we've just started learning about it.

To this day you can’t change a plan in the myverizon app, it kicks you out to the browser. If you think the same Indian contractors can build a great AI experience, oh boy….

@a1 as an ai engineer, I can attest that the new ai flows are improving net adds, accessories, and lowering churn by almost 40% in the digital channels.

In a Verizon (VZ) webcast or earnings call around January or March 2026 (I'm not exactly sure of the date), he claimed that we had already reached AGI. This came around the same time Elon Musk posted on X that AGI had been reached. Now he's backtracking, saying AGI is still 2–4 years away. He seems to have no real understanding of the topic and is simply sprinkling AI buzzwords into his statements to hype the stock price which utterly failing.

I dont get it

We are 2000 light years from AGI and he knows it, why pretend we have 4 years before its achieved

All we have is pattern recognition and agentic coding - everything else is sh-t

I call all folks who work with ai to chime in - i am sure all will say the same thing

AI is just one step in the automation process
