It's happening to more and more people on my team. I have no idea what I'd do in that position, but it just feels so cruel and demeaning.

Tell them where to go. Resign. Never look back
Leak it to the media. That works
Make sh-t up. HIH Indians are worse than scabs
Tell them all they need to do is “Lead to One.” Training complete.
If you have to train your replacement (especially if your severance is being threatened), share the minimum information. Leave no hints that make the job easier. Our team has developer info in documentation on confluence which can’t have passwords or similar type of information. You could consider removing octa access group names to a separate document that must be obtained from an existing group member. Password protect those documents. Make the information secure.
Chances are you know people around the company who (if they survive layoffs) you go to for help in sticky situations. Don’t share that info in your training.
I used to be a big believer in sharing information to help my colleagues. Thanks to the company’s offshoring and “cost saving” initiatives, I don’t feel that way any longer.
Don’t. Put if off and barely train your replacement. Fu-k them
Someone in India was hired to probably replace me. When they initially joined I asked them “what are you supposed to own or what is your responsibility”. “They answered with something very vague and that they just wanted to join all my meetings to understand process and how we work.” I responded with “okay great, everyone I talk to doesn’t really have detailed meetings until later - after 12pm”. India closes around 11am EST! I’m making it as difficult as possible and even locking training documents that I can only unlock and having them have to work around me to get information from others. I’m sure they are frustrated, all while I’m looking for another job.
@a1 Being related to DP or a friend of his friend is what makes them untouchable probably.
The worst part about all this is that regardless of how well they get trained, they keep making mistakes and messing up everything. Then we need to fix it and at least in my dept, if we report their mistakes, they’re untouchable!!
