Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Executive pay

Our new CEO is being paid a $1.5M annual salary, with up to $50M in performance incentives.

That’s equivalent to 500+ employees making $100K.

It’s hard to listen to Joe Russo talk about surgical cost reductions when our CEO is being paid an annual salary equivalent to an entire market.

Does our CEO work 500 times harder than the average corporate employee? Why don’t individual employees receive bonuses that are potentially 33 times than their salary? Imagine an STI of $3.3M on your $100K salary.

If Verizon were serious about cost reductions, it could save tens of millions by trimming the oozing fat at the top.

@a1 I thought American's love capitalism - work harder and get rich rather than sitting on your fat backside and complaining... It's the American way. Don't like it - leave

@ac Some people on here are crazy and would rather pay less for a CEO and get less good talent? For real peeps what are you on?

I love that the concise and accurate summary of Dan's pay package gets downvoted.
Love this forum. Well done people.
Also, read the ducking SEC filings. Yes, I know, there are a lot of complicated words in there, but I'm sure Gemini can explain it to you...

look for the 8K/A filed on 10/14/25

@aa What you seriously think they should pay less and hire less talented CEO? Are you nuts? We need the best there is, and those people have choices.

@aa

It’s not like they’ve hired any talent at the CEO or really any job title beginning with C in close to a decade

@OP Yeah....they should pay the CEO of such a big company much much less, that way they'd ensure they got absolutely no talent and as a result the company would collapse..... hahah. genius.

please read the filings more carefully.
Dan is paid a guaranteed 32.5M between Oct 1 and EOY 2027 - and unless he gets fired for cause, all of that is guaranteed, regardless when he is replaced by the permanent CEO.
On top of that he has incentive payment almost entirely tied to the stock price that tops out around $150M

If you told me that I would receive a bonus of 50 million to cut head count I would do it in a second.

Its human nature to be corrupted with power and lose empathy. We would all do the same if we ever get to that level. Look around the world the oppressed become the oppressors.

But Sean Hannity told me that if I’m angry at the CEO who’s making 25 million a year while eliminating and outsourcing American jobs then I’m a communist.

This is capitalism, and Americans are SOOOO protective of it, and forget when these exploits happen, it's at the expense of our people. Our neighbors. Our friends.

We can do better if just join and build new leaders and organize ourselves better. It's hard, but it's not complex.

There's a reason C-suite execs are often referred to as psychopaths. They have minimal-to-no sympathy for humans.

Eat the rich! They’re all greedy and don’t care about the rest of us.
