are they still "monitoring" badge swipes?

this whole bs thing started in what, early March or so? I went in MAYBE 3 days/week but averaged out more like 1-2/week lol. I was told by my manager that I should probably start going in more to stay off a "list," so i did. I'd go swipe my badge and drive the hour commute back home.

Then the whole manager reorg happened and my new "manager" is pi---d about the RTO as well. He basically told me - without saying it - that if i want to just badge in and go straight back home, then i can.

I live an hour from the office and got tired of the drive. I put in for a medical exception for something and was granted 6 months. So, I haven't been to the office since I think early April now?

Are they still monitoring this cr-p? Because in my last 1x1 he didn't say a thing about it.

I know badge swipes are monitored and they always technically have been but, I also know that depending on the org you are in, those swipes either mean nothing at all or, the execs are monitoring them.

My org is pretty lax about badge swipes and I'm almost positive they look for a 30% "in office" per quarter - which is roughly 3 days/week or so. My actual manager (who is a director) HATES the RTO and dgaf if we go in or not BUT, doesn't want any of us ending up on a "sh-t list" and doesn't want our VP/C level dude asking him why these people aren't going in. He himself has about 1.2 hour drive each way so he's furious about it lol.

We were told that they (as in my orgs VP/C) only care about badge swipes and said "take that as you will. wink wink" Meaning, just swipe your badge and go home right after if you want to.

Badge ins are monitored, but any consequences for not bagding in are 100% up to your boss.

Yes, they are still monitoring badge swipes.

Much like Internet usage, they are tracking for a "violation of policy", something which will allow them to deny state unemployment benefits in Texas if management so chooses.

Get fired for "violation of policy" and, at a minimum, you will lose your first hearing at TWC and possibly the appeal tribunal, requiring you to go to the third step in the appeal process, the court appearance, which will make paid legal assistance necessary.

At least, that's how it works in Texas. In some states, being fired for "violation of policy" results in a lifetime ban on collecting unemployment, but Texas law only requires a probation period at the next job, during which you are ineligible to collect benefits.

Managers get a spread sheet showing all their reports badge ins. If less than 5 they have to provide a reason why...who actually reads that report once they submit it...i dont know...however I havent heard of a consequences coming directly from that

In my building there are badge readers on the bathroom stall doors. Dump on your own time I guess or bring a 5 gallon bucket to your desk

Badge swipes will appear lower over the summer because people usually use a fair amount of vacation time. I took 8 days off the past couple of months to spend with family. And I had Covid for a week so that’s 12-13 less badging in days than normal. Hopefully the powers that be can realize that.

It is absolutely still being minitored, you can even check your badge swipes fir the previous week. What management does with this info us unknown to me though. I have herd that anyone with under 25 swipes per quarter gets flagged for review, but I have not seen anything official.

@a1 When I was going into office, I'd leave home after my morning meetings and get there at 10am and, quite literally the office was a ghost town after 11 - 11:30am. People would go get lunch and gtfo. Since NOBODY on my team works at my office, I had no reason to stay so I'd do the same. Go grab an overpriced and cr-ppy lunch at the cafe and eat it on my drive home.

@a1 I ask because I went on medical in early April i think and was granted a 6m leave of going to office by HR. My manager/director said we could discuss that month by month to see how things were going, which is fine. In May, he asked how I was doing, In Junehe asked and said that if it needs to be extended beyond the next quarter, we'd have to get with HR again; in July he didn't ask at all, nor did he bring up RTO. He drives 1.2 hours to the office daily and is NOT happy about it lol. But I guess when you are a director, you gotta do the unthinkable like that?

So, no I'm wondering if they even monitor this bs anymore and just aren't telling anybody, because what better way to make ppl go into office than by making them ASSUME it's being monitored - when it's not?
