Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Hooray for Hess Deal!

So thrilled that the Hess deal has finally gone through. This will have a huge impact on Chevron moving forward and hopefully get us on the right track to build back better. This reorg has been one of the harder ones in my 20 years at Chevron and while it is not over for many of us, this deal going through gives me hope for the future. This site is littered with negativity, and it feels good to finally have something good to talk about.

Well, when Hess comes on it will come with more reprg. Duplicate jobs etc. After knowledge transfer comes another round. Could impact both sides again. And rebranding efforts. Usually companies take what they want and discards what they don't want or need. Its not the last of a reorg for sure.

There’s nothing positive about this! Hess folks included our VPs and directors were mislead. No one with Hess was involved with deciding who is on the go forward team with Chevron. Also, if the 45 and older comment I saw is true get ready for lawsuits!

@bw you clearly do not watch the markets. The pendulum will not swing anytime soon. Look at the P/E ratios of oil and gas stocks over the last 10 years vs. tech stonks.

Thank god! I was worried MW would only get a 2 million dollar raise this year as punishment for botching the deal and that would have made me sad.

@c9 your dividend from CVX is good for another 10 years with Hess oil. Not so much after that

As a slacker I can now get back to what I do best. Slacking. But I am retired. I also own NVDA and APPL stocks and have done quite well with them. I do own a lot of CVX for the great dividends. Those are in my Brokerage accounts. I use Vanguard which was Chevrons Manger of our 401k until Fidelity came in and paid off Chevron to become the Manager of employee accounts. Vanguard is way better and you have your own personal advisor at low costs. Believe it or not.

XOM is going to 100% run Guyana. They'll send a check for Chevron's share of the production and an invoice for Chevron's share of the costs. Probably best that way, otherwise Chevron would make a dog's dinner out of everything.

The market didn’t respond very well to the news, but oil&fas is out of favor for tech stocks. The pendulum will swing, and once the financials start to show the impacts from the acquisition and re-org, I think we will move higher.

I love blue kool aid. The company has been good to me for 18 years. Started as an operator and now a manager in SCM.

The best part is that XOM is the operator and they actually know what they are doing.

HEss employees will get a a letter 2 weeks after close. You either get a job, get a temporary transition role, or get laid of w/ severance. You're gone 60 days from that.

Indeed good news. Remember we got Hess for Guyana, we are likely to spin off parts of the company we don't want. Did the same thing at Texaco, took us a little longer.

@OP Hooray? Id--t......Keep drinking that koolaid. Chevron cant make their own discoveries so they buy others. Where's the successes of the exploration teams? I thought CVX was a supermajor? Bunch of losers....

This means you got a job. Many of us will not have jobs not because we’re not good workers but because there’s no chairs for us to sit down in. I’m not disagreeing. This site is negative and even that has will be good for the company, but not everyone is in your same frame of mind while processing losing their jobs.

Doesn't help the average worker at all. The King of Layoffs will continue to layoff his employees. Too bad he didn't get fired over a loss.
