Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

New to the bank

Hi folks, I am new to the bank and see a huge population of people who have been here for 15+ years at various roles. How did you manage to be here for so long? How did this place change over the last 15 years. Honestly I have never been part of a company for that long and find it fascinating that people stay that long.

What is the performance management process like here? Do they have bottom 12% concept?

Enlighten me veterans!

In Technology they bring in new trainees a few times a year. If you stay one moment after your 2nd anniversary, you are crazy. You can take your new skills to another company and get 40% more pay. Get respect and additional training. This is not a destination employer.

@a1 I apologize was not trying to be insensitive. Layoffs are awful and I have been through one in my own career. Do not wish that on anyone.

If you are young concentrate in getting as many new skills as possible. Meet as many people as possible. Volunteer for projects. Learn as many business lines as possible. Apply for newer and better internal jobs but stay at each job at least a year. Try not to burn bridges. Time goes by really fast.

This is not a site to act as your professional mentor/training-wheels for your big girl bike career.

This is a layoff site.

Read the room.
