Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

How do they let you know?

A call? A mgr/dir calls? HR calls? Separate meetings? What do they tell you? Anyone with experience on this board?

There is a script for legal purposes and managers stay silent since any misstatement can and will be used against them.

It was a meeting with manager and HR. I think my manager was reading from a script. It didn't sound like the way he normally speaks and comes off like a robot. HR was there but neither were able to answer much of my questions.

I got the chop this morning. Was an agenda-less “Connect” call with my boss’ boss’ boss. Then he invited HR to the call.
Mumbled something about efficiencies. Had no instructions on who I should handover duties to or who my team would be reporting to.
I’ve been acquired, merged, spun-off and survived dozens of rounds of cuts. I guess it was going to happen someday. They don’t know the knowledge that’s walking out, or care. But that’s someone else’s problem now.

Scheduled a meeting where I thought I'm being recognized for my efforts after a major project was done, apparently they had different intentions. My wife insisted on taking my measurements after that call as I was too pale and stunned.

My VP rescheduled a meeting we had had to cancel the following week, so I didn’t think twice. But when I saw that VP was at the office instead of home (Monday) my spidey senses tingled and then HR randomly joined the meeting a minute later. I felt totally blindsided.

For me, it was an 11:30 AM meeting that showed up on my calendar at 9:30 AM, with the Director of my division, whom I've never met, so it was pretty easy to guess what was going on, especially when an HR rep was there too.

For my case, I had a 1 on 1 meeting with my manager alongside somebody I never met before from HR. They let you know on teams and will shortly cut you off. No access to teams/outlook so I had to write my goodbye email right then and there during that heartbreaking meeting.
