Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

LinkedIn Observation

I stopped to read a couple Exxon resignation posts that popped up on my LinkedIn page yesterday, and came to a realization on why this company doesn’t make as much money as it should. I looked at the titles of the people saying goodbye to the original poster:
Corporate Inclusion & Diversity
Global Leadership Program Delivery Coordinator
Upstream Culture Lead (this guy was a VP, probably makes $800k a year)
Leadership Curriculum Manager

What do these people do all day long that legitimately adds to the bottom line of the company? We lost geologists and engineers during the layoff that can pay their annual salary (easily) with a single job on a single well, but we kept all these fluff positions?

Would be nice if a trend started of marking the posts with #exxodus

Best thing about the company is it’s people? Get a life. This Company is full of jerks, unemployable losers, a-s liking mo--ns and a bunch of greedy re--rds.

Those people are required to make those posts, nobody else at XOM touches LinkedIn or talks to those people unless they have to.

When people always asked me what was the best part of working at XOM, I always replied "the people". After some of the remarks in this thread using outrageous and offensive terms to describe people of color and others I realize I might have been mistaken. I know we are better than this.

Don't think anybody really 'gets' it.
Perfunctory facts:
Company - what we work for - is out for the money.
Money is only a root - the ism ji-m is the soil.
That is where money - root of all evil, some say - grows from.
Gotta have soil. Gotta be Soiled.
So please pass more ism around, so we can all have a spurt of it.
It's the dream we all have on independence day.

The dirtier the soil, the better.

I need to get back to my pre-meeting planning so we can discuss which fonts we use today. The current ones definitely need changing. They are not inclusive enough.
Firm over function works every time. Commenting on forward email thread keeps one in the game. Sometimes it is best not to say anything just forward it 5 sec before meetings and in middle ask did so and so get a copy.

Please don't confuse my OP with the ignorant reply. I'm not taking issue with diversity and inclusion, I'm taking issue with the fact that a department is dedicated to something that doesn't need a department. Seriously, tell me what they do to justify their jobs that couldn't be included in the job function of a normal HR role? Trust me I have the same beef with the projects groups. They have people that keep track of bolts, people that keep track of nuts, and people with spreadsheets that keep track of the track keepers. This whole company is a colossal out of control bureaucracy. If the layoffs would have been done correctly, then they should have taken a hard look at what people are actually doing and the value they create, not just axing things because they aren't directing capital at them.

I am one of the people with a fluff title and job. I know it's a B.S. job so I'm going to milk it until the wheels fall off! This is why I power walk all day around the office, send out emails at 12am and go to as many useless meetings as possible! I put on a darn good office space show and its worked for me now for over 15 years!

No way I'm stopping losers! Feels so good to vent ananomously.

My God, what’s do XOM employees have against inclusion and diversity? It seems to be all you lot whine about these days. I understand the other titles but not D&I. As soon as things get shaky with the company, things getting racist on this thread. That’s why we have to pay people for inclusion in diversity, to avoid lawsuits.

Wow seriously??,, just milking it day in and day out. Must have foreign accent, you got to pay extra for those folks. Imagine making close to Million $ barely spending 40 hrs a week and your job is to hold meetings with people asking around how culture is doing and what we can do to improve? Meanwhile do nothing about it or take back those talking points to VPs and parrot it as your own. Nice con !
Ask him or others in same time what their accomplishment is other than holding meetings with other wasteful people and wasting company time and resources.
You are 100% right, hurts that me and my buddies were laid off while we were actually adding to bottom-line in the field doing real work, while clowns in Houston are still around
