Thread regarding Alteryx layoffs

Building Respect & Focusing on Positive Change

Reading through a lot of posts here, and hearing about some that were taken down, it’s disappointing to see people treating their current or former colleagues with so much hostility. I get that people feel they’ve been treated unfairly and are frustrated—probably with good reason in some cases—but calling people out by name or initials with that kind of anger is, in a way, another form of bullying. It doesn’t make the posters any better than the people they’re criticizing.

To those who have moved on, I wish you all the best and hope you find success and happiness in the future.

And to those still with Alteryx, I hope you can channel your energy into making it a great company and a great place to work.

My cheeks ache from all the forced grins. This offsite was a masterclass in phoniness.

You must be in Marketing to have made such a rookie mistake as that.....

The back-and-forth between Marketing and Content—so boring, folks, so boring.

Apparently, nobody there can spell. Imagine sinking to that level of microaggression—unbelievable.

Total disaster!

You don’t even make sense. I doubt you even work at Alteryx. Can’t you former employees just move on already? It’s really sad. I’m sad for you. You’re sad.

Caught in the etymological crossfire! 60 plus marketers offers apologies for the plebeian faux pas. Are you sure you didn’t post it yourself and just don’t remember?

The current strategies might be a bit last-century, but let's dive into the current scene:

Gaslighting by implication from Sr.Directors/Directors.

  • Tactic 'Insinuation'

Indirectly suggesting blame or fault to avoid accountability.
"I guess some people just don’t care the way I do."

  • Tactic 'Gaslighting'

Makes someone question their perception or role.
"Are you sure you/he/she/they didn’t cause this? Everything was fine before."

  • Passive-Aggression

Blame disguised as innocent or vague remarks.
"I wish everyone took this as seriously as I do."

  • Scapegoating

Shifts blame subtly or overtly to someone else.
"If mistakes didn’t happen, we wouldn’t be in this situation."

You are obviously someone at the Sr Director level or above who can stay slogging away at Alteryx, earning your PE retention bonus.
The rest of us pleebs are only stuck here and held hostage by a terrible job market, earning way less money,

Seems like a lot of class-level resentment here.....based on title/level.

Not so sure that many Sr. Director level folks are earning PE retention boni....perhaps worthless stock options, but not so much retention boni.....

Spot on.

I'm sure part of your bonus is related to keeping a low attrition rate, so it's very self-serving to be dismissive rather than being able to empathize with how much of a dump it is here now.

There's no empathy in business. Certainly none in marketing and engineering.

I hope you can channel your energy into making it a great company and a great place to work.

Have you not noticed the toxic developments in Marketing/Demand Gen over the past year? Trust is at an all-time low, with a juvenile atmosphere of "he said, she said" dominating the scene. Managers are quietly quitting, disillusioned by the dishonesty from directors and senior directors. Surprisingly, the recent layoffs have been revealing, clearly distinguishing the capable from the incapable.

The current mood is "TRUST NO ONE." Wear a fake smile, feign interest, then clock out and leave.

Very cool, PE/HR.

You are obviously someone at the Sr Director level or above who can stay slogging away at Alteryx, earning your PE retention bonus.

The rest of us pleebs are only stuck here and held hostage by a terrible job market, earning way less money, especially once you calculate inflation. As soon as the market improves a bit, you may as well finish off outsourcing whatever is left to India because people still actually doing the work are ready to leave.

But thanks for the dismissive outlook and phony positivity. I'm sure part of your bonus is related to keeping a low attrition rate, so it's very self-serving to be dismissive rather than being able to empathize with how much of a dump it is here now.

Bullying? Are you serious? CD is causing people to quit and want to ki-l themselves. What she's doing is harassment and abuse not treating someone "unfairly." Calling her out using initials isn't bullying. If anything it's reporting the facts.

I get where you are coming from. But not talking about it and sweeping things under the rug doesn't bring real positive change. If you are not one of the people that experience toxic behavior from their managers, consider yourself lucky. If you are not one of the people that tried going through the proper channels through HR but have gotten no recourse, consider yourself fortunate. People have no other avenues other than venting their frustrations here. If you say it's not productive, that's fair. But what is? Continue to take the abuse? Fair point that calling out someone by name is bullying but what really happens to them? Nothing. Their behavior is a known fact, HR continues to do nothing and victims continue to suffer. Real positive change can only happen if HR and the company holds people accountable and employees can start to feel safe again.
