ET Phones Home… But It’s Elliott Doing the Dialing?

In the latest twist for Honeywell, the company may feel like it’s stuck in a scene straight out of E.T.—but this time, it’s not the alien dialing home. Reports suggest ex-Honeywell employees and shareholders might have taken a proactive approach, lobbying Elliott Management to engage and "phone home" for a stronger focus on shareholder value.

If true, this is a bold move: leveraging activist investors not as adversaries, but as partners in unlocking untapped potential after exiting the company. It’s a strategy that could redefine how companies work with, rather than against, activist investors.

The question now is: will this collaboration launch Honeywell into a higher orbit or spark turbulence in the boardroom? One thing's certain—shareholders are watching closely to see how this story unfolds.

@3hti+1vJ1pB77 Those spinoffs were financial tools to move debt, litigation and broken businesses. You should research it. The IA businesses are following suit. It is crystal clear that a breakup is the best course of action and is already in motion. More businesses will be divested/spun off during 2025 - 2026 to join PPE and Advanced Materials. When ex execs used to post here one stated in 2021 that it would broken up over a 5 year period. I think he will be shown to be correct.

sounds like @OP is on the payroll for Elliot and looking to stir it up.
How did this work last time?
what was the name of that 2018 spin off ?
the one that sounded like the ring around the bowl after a flush?
oh yeah... Residue .... no RESIDEO .. so catchy.

5yr performance

Resideo --- down 8.6%
Garret --- down 27%
Honeywell --- up 30%
DJI --- up 60%
S&P 500 --- up 92%

Yeah... Let's split up and create value. SU---R

You want to earn value? sell Honeywell and buy S&P.
Honeywell has a worst-in-industry 401K match program. (do the MATH).
Take that once-a-year "gift" and move it ASAP to S&P. I do.

Elliott or not, the split makes sense and will happen. Shareholders calling the shots can't be worse than the current and last leadership team. FACT.

A sign of weak leadership when shareholders start to call the shots.
