Remote engineers your day has come

Earning release is bad. Stock is crashing. WFC is going to execute location strategy in faster pace. Your day has come.

I mean to be fair it's come for the non-remote ones too, in and out of hubs, so....

Aw shucks OP, are you saying I will:

  • > Miss out on next year's ~2% raise?
  • > Not have to enter random Stamp hours twice a month?
  • > No longer take DevelopYou courses about managing employee relationships?
  • > Have to discover what it really means to be an engineer? Learn something new?
  • > Shift the feelings of daily work day dread towards positive stress of finding new opportunities?
  • > Go to sleep each night relieved that the bank will do you a solid by making sure you are kept in the same role for the next 20 years
  • > etc etc

Joke’s on you. I’m remote, non-core/non-specialty, but told I need to start reporting into the nearest office.

Reason is that remote work is going away. But a lot of currently remote workers being told to start going in to non-core/non-specialty are still needed in many areas, so the core/specialty dead wood will continue to be chopped first.

Remotes are just being targeted first, they won't be last. Only about 20-25% of people displaced recently have been remote. That is a disproportionate impact, but obviously there's diminishing returns there. Soon enough a much larger majority of Shart's victims will be in office workers. A lot will be "location strategy" victims, but they'll soon run out of those two, and then the hubs will start getting squeezed to death and slowly but surely each hub will fall, HY will close them and dump the buildings cheap.

OP is foolish. Remotes have been on notice since the Location Strategy was announced. Your weak attempt at gaslighting has failed. Terminations will continue as planned.

Was told my number will be up in Q3. I'm eagerly awaiting that call, especially on Tuesdays.

I am super excited to get that great news.
