Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

I want to be laid off by July. Can I ask my manager?

If you are pursuing a career change, I don't think layoff packages are a bad thing, just don't know if boss will approve the idea. Most companies want to scare you into quitting so they don't have to pay for a package.

i've never gotten a layoff package except at the last job because i put in 10 years and really did a good job. they wanted to silence me and sign an NDA. i took the money and ran. it's really hard to sue another bcbs and they know it.

I have always urged people no matter how bad it gets to never willingly quit specially if you are already entitled for the company severance pay. This company will be more than happy to accept your resignation and be free of paying you the severance money that you have worked hard for and deserve. Just ride it out and believe me once you get to a certain age you will be targeted for the next round of RIF,s. , this is just how this company operates now. Gone are the days were loyalty is rewarded so do what is expected of you nothing more nothing less .. don’t ki-l yourself working for this company, it’s not worth it.

You can let your manager know he/she has to lay anyone off, you would be willing to go on that list.

@OP+1mEf8EEF - you can, but your manager may take it offensively, I like above poster comment of quiet quitting I'm doing that now have been for a long time, I also offered with my manager and I'm still here. I don't know what else I can do but sit around and keep getting a nice salary, which I'll continue to get When (if) they do they me off. I do feel there will be some activity happening in late May ( to get people off the books before the end of Q2) or June. If you haven't been here for more than ten years a package may not be the best road to take. For me I'm ready once I get laid off I'm not going back to work. Good luck Blessings

I lost my desire to work for this place a number of years ago but wouldn't give them the satisfaction of scaring or bullying me into quitting. Instead, I quiet quit until they finally RIF'd me - I took the severance and ran. Unless they offer you a package (and I think that's probably a thing of the past now), then your best bet is to wait for the the RIF and just embrace it. In the military they say, "embrace the suck".

Good luck to all who remain swimming in the shallow end of this cesspool.
