@6opq, back when BK let us travel I went to NYC and lunch was much cheaper than CNY and the beer prices were the same except in the airport. And your rent is less than my rent and car expenses.

This is an annual prank from an HR friend of mine. For some reason he thinks that it’s funny that he is making an April Fool’s prank every year. If you go back on the board he has called 6 straightApril layoffs and not even one occurred.

If you live and work in NYC 100k won’t get you far what with NYS and NYC income taxes, high rent, big food cost
You have to jump the turnstiles to save a few dollars

Sorry, but that’s simply #Fakenews

No effective and respected (diversity) person would ever be let go. It is against every HR goal and directive. If this did actually happen then you simply don’t know the back story on that one.

I’ve never heard of anyone in financial services but you associate seniority with pay, only With benefits. Pay is always grade and performance based.

Now in union jobs it’s the reverse. Nobody gives a damn about performance because pay is all based on tenure. Yeah… we see how that works out. Talked to a teacher lately?

@6xgj

Banks are extremely top heavy. 20% of the employees earn 80% of the pay. Do you think that Ops workers make anything near $100K?

That’s one of the reasons why we have to provide a generous 401K match, to keep from being designated as top heavy.

The fact that this message board treats a 100k salary as a benchmark for seniority (if not success) tells you everything you need to know about BNYM. It's really not a lot of money - actually it's peanuts.

So I make 100K+. Will I be chopped tomorrow? I doubt it more fake news 🤮

@4ybo

If this true about this being all for those over $100K it is excellent news. All of the fat is above $100K. All of the Managing Directors could be gone tomorrow and we wouldn’t even miss a beat.

There have been layoffs at BNYM since Jan 2021, as has the entire industry. I'm confused as to why people call BS and are in denial about this. There was a large one in Jan and there will be a smaller one in March.
Who is it that feels this is a conspiracy? The mental health of these people is concerning.

If you make over 100k you’re on the list. One of the most respected (diversity) person I know got let go. So it’s no longer white males over 40. Good luck.

@1ldz

Probably because we hire on merit keeping costs in mind and we aren’t racist. Offshore workers have none of the issues withcomplacency and low work ethic that we see now in North America.

Just the facts ma’am.

This clown is now pulling the same April Fools prank for the Fifth straight year. Not once in the last four years has the April Fools layoff rumor been correct.

What a strange hobby this is.

HR finalizing the list? That’s ridiculous. HR does what they are told. Poster is an id--t.

@3tuq

I did as well!! Updated my resume and left. I come back here to remind myself how difficult it was to pick myself up off the floor and get out of the cult like hours and pressure

It was great advice. I’m so much better off now and so are several other ex-coworker friends who keep in touch. I can tell you that nobody who leaves ever seems to come out worse.

How to we have 30k employees in India now and still have 50k employees total?

In my 29 years here, there has never been as much job security as we’ve enjoyed in the past 4 1/2 years. It’s astoundingly stable. I only wish that I could be RIFFed, but there isn’t a RIF, and there’s only constant benefits cuts to make us leave for free.

There are at least 4 “HR Friend” rumors every month… pretty much weekly. Contrast today with the massive layoff era of 2000 to 2008 when the Bank laid off 10% a year for 8 straight years. Yeah… there was no need for Imaginary HR Friends.

Anybody and Everybody knew exactly what was going on. Nowadays we have a few 1% MAX layoffs and the sky is falling.

Although i would prefer to want this layoff to occur (hoping that i would be laid off since i am a long-term employee), i believe this is yet another made-up story that we hear nearly every single month.

Well, we will need to wait until next monday to verify.

Correction, it is 3/13. The memo I had access to had a typo. To be expected with BNYM

IT department to be heavily impacted, as well as grades making 100K plus. I have heard this from four different managers, two of whom received it from HR.
