Wells Fargo subpoenaed by DOJ in debanking crackdown

The U.S. Justice Department has reportedly sent subpoenas to several of the country’s largest banks, including JPMorgan Chase JPM and Bank of America BAC, over allegations of politically motivated account closures.

Other banks under investigation include Wells Fargo WFC.

Some of the subpoenas were issued to the banks last year by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., led by Jeanine Pirro. The probe is focused on claims that these banks have “debanked” clients, meaning they have inappropriately closed customer accounts due to political reasons, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

Everything about this bank is fake so why is this any different? Fake job listings to hire their friends , fake review ratings from your supervisor, fake openings for H1Bs and fake equal colleagues in India. Why would anything here be legit?

We are in NO position to discriminate right now. We need customers, of every type, the more the better. The "we'll only serve customers that agree with us politically" model is doomed to failure.

Yes banks can close accounts but the question is why they deem the accounts of Republicans worthy of cancellation while still keeping open the accounts of people like Iranians who mass mu---r their own citizens as well as thousands of other te------t or te------t adjacent individuals around the world. If you dont have a very good answer for that then you now understand the issue.
