Thread regarding Optum layoffs

@OP So, UHG typically allows you to come back but in certain layoffs they may put in your clause that you can’t come back within x years. I’ve seen that. Did you read your layoff paperwork? I was recently laid off and have no interest in ever coming back to this toxic company! Rejection is God’s protection my friend.

Just about every posting you see is already promised to someone. HR has to legally post it to the public for a certain amount of time. If you really want back in you have to network your way back. Don't bother applying for jobs

It's difficult enough for an internal employee to switch departments or get promoted. It's all political. They don't have just any internal employees in mind. They have family, friends, and pets in mind. We are all getting sc--wed.

It should be illegal to post externally if you are not going to review external applications. It is so dishonest and a waste of people's time. No wonder Optum is such a hated company both internally and externally.

Nothing foul. They had an internal candidate in mind, created a requisition so they can apply and then closed it. This is the normal process in most companies. In fact I had to do that in my previous job.
With that said uhg is one of the most toxic place to work. Indian managers are horrible. No sense of basic courtesy, no concept of work life balance, they work all the time and all they do is churn out slop. Micromanaging constantly. Their only mission is to kiss senior management a-s nonstop at the expense of their team members well being. The American executive laugh behind their back. I would apply elsewhere.

@a6 Unfortunately you are 100% correct and it’s not just UHG posting these phantom openings. Centene, Humana, Aetna all do the same thing cause by law you must post a role even if it’s a day or two and promised to someone else. And it certainly gives the appearance that there’s more rules out there than they’re actually are

@d2 The economy and job market are terrible. It takes 6 months to find a new job in the US. I know some waiting a year since Optum layoffs.

people go back to places they worked before even if its sh!tty because people have bills to pay and figure their chances are better with the evil they know.

A guy down the road has an EMU in his yard. I used to feed it corn through the fence. Until one day it bit off the tip of my pinky. I stopped feeding it for awhile. After my finger healed I got more corn and started feeding it again. Now I am called "three finger freddy"

Why are you going back to the same place?

Applied the same day within an hour or posting, got rejection within an hour saying they picked another candidate.

Many of the job postings are redeployment openings or roles intended for internal candidates. I reached out to recruiters for the same day jobs posted, and they told me they already had an internal candidate in mind. They may open a job requisition for just a day or a very short period to allow a preselected candidate to apply. So they are real openings but they have no intention of interviewing others.

I’m starting to think that the so called “new job openings” are a farce for economical manipulation. Because almost everyone I know who was RIF’d within the past year and a half hasnt found re-employment here or elsewhere.
Some people dont even get response emails after applying to jobs.
Something very foul is going on.
