The delusions continue . . .

Q&A at Global Town Hall, Geoffisms

  • We’re closing sites where people don’t want to live or travel to.
  • We don’t have a retention issue.

@kk Dunning Kruger in play here. I have a bunch of overseas resources. Not all are worthless but most are. My expectations are so low you have to laugh otherwise you would cry. You present proof of this and solutions and are told by upper management to make it work. For the record it has gotten even worse in recent years but never was it ever better. It only looks good on point in time budgets and not TCO budgets nor quality. It is just one more example our leadership is made up of followers without any kind of innovative vision. It is all cut, out source, spin off, buy, etc.

@jj if us USA workers really work our as--s off MDT wouldn’t have to ship our work overseas. Too many of us just complain and don’t do a lot of work. Indian workers are productive and do great work. They do everything to accommodate USA work hours. We should look ourselves in the mirror!

I wish someone would ask about all the outsourcing of our good paying jobs to India!

@ek RE: Santa Rosa. A few people lost their homes in 2017 I believe. Regardless, you could fire a canon in that Fountaingrove building and no one would notice. It was that dead. I'm not talking Fridays either.

Haha! LOOK-My Magic 8 Ball could make better business decisions. At least we won one battle by letting Brett Wall go.

@OP right, no mention of offshoring. I find his responses defensive and condescending during the Q & A. I can’t stand when he starts his replies with “Look…”. The CEO of a company this size should really take a class in communications!

All the young people in Santa Rosa commuted from SF or Oakland (and hated it).

@az which state do you think would be a better option? The talent Medtronic is targeting does not want to live in Indiana.

CA is unaffordable. East Coast Plant located States best take note.

@a9 Geographically and weather climate you could make that argument, but cost of living and overbearing State government regulations makes other areas in the U.S. much more appealing.

Honestly, CHRO’s response on it was adequate usual clean political correct response. GM just made it very weird. Seems like he’s losing his touch.
