It is not about expecting a reward. I actually get a real sense of satisfaction from doing a job well, no matter where I am or who I work for. But here is the thing all of us have to accept. Do not expect loyalty back. Do not expect appreciation. Do not expect any of it to protect you. When cuts come, you will be out the door just as fast as the person who does nothing. Maybe faster. Whatever corporate culture this place supposedly had is long gone. If it ever existed at all.

@OP well said. I retired after 31 years and realized all that time I was just an employee number in a database.
S&T is a toxic cesspool. The numbers they provide to show their value to the company are entirely made up.

Ethics are a joke at this dump. Had to take the “Anti-Slavery” mandatory training today. It covered forced and unpaid excessive hours of work as abusive. Yet these incompetent cheap people push over 60 hours of work or more per week on myself and many others - and being salaried and an L6 - no over time no bonus. Where is a VRP when it’s needed most?
