Next year RIF target will be Software and QA Engineers after Github Copilot Adoption

You can run, you can hide, but you cannot escape ... AI will first eat Software Engineer or QA Engineer roles.

Next year RIF target will be Software Engineers especially order taking coders without business domain expertise. Grade 3,4,5 would be let go after Git-hub Copilot Adoption.

copilot churns out massive piles of slop on anything complicated, or if the codebase is already bad (like ours are).

@OP are you sure about software dev W/ business domain experience being kept. Seems to me based on the news articles I've read the company is looking to hire newly minted software engineers - aka young college age people who are looking for their first job and don't have to be paid as much as people who have 10+ years experience

There r a lot of people in IT, software dev, testers, managers, directors, VPs who are being paid a lot for delivering next to nothing and ai will replace them very soon

@ae If we make it more complex, will the profits from financial products really increase?
I think it's better to reduce the number of developers and employees and increase dividends instead!

This is wrong. Jevons Paradox. Historically, when a tool makes a resource more efficient, we don't use less of it...we find more complex ways to use it. Maybe they'll lay off developers that refuse to use at all though.
