Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I know why exxon got rid of NRE. It is because of employees like this .

I remember many years ago an employee who was 53 dared exxon to fire him. He was arrogant and rich so he did not cafre. He was told by hr that he did not have to complete the DPC. He barely attempted to do any of the stuff on the plan and even missed many of the meetings with the boss. In the end he passed and was left alone for a few more years. There were many loke him as we called them retired in place. One machinist just walked around all day with his coffee. He worked on a single part for a months just taking his time. Another NRE fellow would hide out all day and disappear. One old guy told the management he did not deserve to be on dpc and refused to participate. He passed as well. Even employees on pips passed at high rate years ago. It has all changed now and the pass rate is very low. Pips used to be common when you were in your sixties now the can happen at any age.

“I know why they got rid of NRE. Too many older employees were coasting....”
Yes. We know. That was literally the point. It was an acknowledgment that after 25 years of corporate life, maybe people in their 50s deserve a little humanity instead of squeezing every last drop out of them like a defective lemon at a management workshop. The people removing these policies are mostly still young enough to think energy is permanent and stress is theoretical. Time will educate them.

‘ I know why EM got rid of NRE’, because of you. You were snitching out , and backstabbing people. You were paying more attention to those people than to yourself. Did you know already about their situation that they received from their managers? I did think so.What you are doing here, it is to posting cr-p following your masters.

Cool story bro. Total BS to say that there is a big problem with people in their 50’s who have been contributing for decades.

You don’t change a policy due to a few bad apples. You don’t have to use the rank process to fire someone. I fired someone outside of cycle for doing exactly what you’re referring to.

We used to celebrate people passing PIP in HR and leadership discussions. Now we’re saying they’re useless. Our management is certainly deciding to poison culture

I am not defending the actions of evil exxon and their minions. The management is the worst kind of e vil. Rotten to the core and corrupt. I am just stating in the past many employees ride out their last few years. It pi---d us off because we had to pick up their slack. One guy would come in and sit in an outside building all day for 8 hours.I never saw him do any actual work. The move now is for cost savings at the expense of the workers. I do not agree with the elimination of the nre program. It almost guaranteed a retirement from exxon. Now you are at the mercy of corrupt managers and leaders. Remember exxon says it's people are its greatest asset which is a lie. Exxons shareholders e rs and profits are its greatest priority.

@OP - that's BS. How much is Exxon paying you troll this board? Almost all 50 somethings work hard. The change in NRE protection is so they can fire older employees easier. Look around. They are already doing it.

Your example of one lazy PoS doesn’t change the fact that our leadership is systematically and immorally targeting older workers. What’s the point of the OP? Your one example isn’t helping the cause.

If you are over 40 and have been saving to your 401k, I would talk to your financial advisor and discuss your options. If you don’t have a financial advisor get one. Talk to people to get some contacts. The best thing you can do is prepare and get your finances in order. Take care of yourselves.
