Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Question to VPs and above

Have we figured how to increase sales? If not, no matter what you do (kick off lowly employees to save some change), wall street will keep shorting they will bring PE to 15 or less.

Sounds like execs haven't begged employees to bail them out with another "contest" in a while.

Nike needs to make more money. They do this by either selling more shoes or selling shoes for cheaper. They said in the last earnings call they are not forecasting selling more shoes for at least this year. Layoffs make the shoes cheaper.

@gr We’re not getting paid VP money to figure it out. If every reorg/layoff fails to change the trajectory of the company, maybe it’s time to try cutting different people.

@OP It’s pretty funny reading all of these armchair quarterbacks pretending THEY could turn company around with massive sales and zero reduction of labor costs. People who have never had one business or economics class in college are suddenly experts on both.

If you’re a VP who has overseen more than one reorg, you clearly su-k at this and should be gone.

Yep. What's the strategy to right the ship. Layoffs are a sign of mgmt failure. They're not a strategy. Win now doesn't translate to Fire now. And that too lowly worker bees while highly compensated SD and VPs continue to rule the roost. VA or EH please respond.
