Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

IP approval

Has any former employee Been retiailated against using the IP approval to block his or her paper from publishing? I left about 5 years ago and unfortunately CVX bought one of our collaborators on a study. The paper was approved by all operators with no issues except CVX that makes it legally challenging for me with so many ridiculous questions. Amit is trying to act as it is not his fault, but he is the one behind.

I did several presentations externally and didn’t have much trouble. Just get with legal early. And of course stick to industry generic and not chevron specific stuff.

It's almost impossible to publish anything externally when you still work here. Don't take it personally, but Chevron owns anything you made during, related to, or done using company resources during your employment. If they don't want it released it's not going to happen.

To be fair, could be the lawyers as well. I have worked for a few different operators and Chevron is hands down the worst for getting papers published. Other companies encourage it, but Chevron lawyers would redact the lunch menu if they could. After a couple of attempts publishing papers, I gave up. After they had been completely gutted by Legal, I would have been embarrassed to put my name to them.

I also work in completions and can tell you that he does not understand anything. I heard he got so many complaints about claiming other people's achievements. Do not be surprised to see him going out when they decide to replace him. They already have enough against him to take the decision at anytime.

I have worked with Amit. All talks no business sense. Never worked in the field before. Leaders like it because he keeps talking confidently

@OP this is really sad. I wish you could get it published with no issues. Do not worry, hard working never goes away.

@an it is a journal paper. It took me two years to work on it, so it is hard to see such blocking.

I think I know who wrote the post. He is working in Midland. He is very good guy that was let go for no reason. Man, you are doing great. Do not let them drag you down. All good people are leaving either on thier own by such stupid decisions.
