We used to have job security. No matter what, I knew I had some stability. I could buy a house or a car because I felt safe. Now my mortgage feels like a noose around my neck since I can't tell anymore if I'll have my job from day to day. It's really sad how much things have changed for the worse.

@OP Unfortunately, this is the reality across all of Corp America today, not just GPN. It is a far cry from the way things were when I started my career. Best advice I can give you is to keep your skills up-to-date even if it's on your own dime, fund your 401k at least up to the maximum match, & try to live your personal life on a cash basis as much as possible (mortgage is the one exception). Regarding the mortgage, I would buy less house than you qualify for.
I learned years ago....maybe 20....that there is NEVER any job security. I'm 3 years away from retirement, hold a senior level job, and I still wake up every morning with the thought this could be my last day. I am very prepared for it.
