Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Doctor said I need to stay at home for a few weeks to recover from a procedure

Should I apply for the short term disability? Is it job-protected? I’ve never received an ‘IM’ performance rating. How likely is it that I would fall into the category of being terminated without a severance package?

I have been getting along with my peers and manager well.

Give your managera copy of your doctors note and they should be able to approve it. Happened to me last year and my manager wanted me to talk with HR about short time accommodations and HR didn’t care. They said work it out with my manager

I don’t know about the rest of you but I follow my doctors opinion. You have the benefits do use them but follow doctor order.

You need to go on short term disability. You won't have enough PTO to cover that nor should you use it. You have to use 3 days PTO, then go on STD. Doctor has to submit paperwork to do that-- manager needs to know.

It's a benefit, use it. Don't work if you're supposed to be recovering from an illness or surgery.

@OP yes if you are off two to three weeks get you short term disability. They cannot hold that against you. If they let you go they will have to come up with another excuse.

Good luck getting it extended more than a couple of times.

They told me even if my note or condition stayed the same that they'd stop accepting notes after a certain point and be required to come in anyways.

If you’ll be working from home, ask your manager for a Flexible Work Arrangement. It’s good for up to three months. If you’re not able to work, then you apply for STD. Good luck

Apply for accomodations through metlife as a CYA-- manager can grant up to 4 weeks, but past that you'll need to go through them.

Short term disability is for when you need to be out (not working). It goes through MetLife and requires doctor supporting documentation.

If you just need to work from home for a short period, your manager can grant flexibility up to 4 weeks. They just enter a flexible work arrangement (FWA) in Workday.

Beyond that timeframe, you need an HR accommodation (which goes through MetLife).

@a8 Does remote work need to go through MetLife? Or just manager need to approve it?

What type of procedure? Can you work from home during those time? You can request upto 4 weeks to work from home.
