Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

The gem of the past bp cp

Morale at Cherry Point feels like it’s at a historic low. What was once considered a standout site in the Pacific Northwest, known for its strong culture and sense of family, feels very different today.

Many employees feel disconnected from leadership, and recent organizational changes have made the refinery feel unfamiliar to those who have been here for years. There’s a growing perception that leadership is not fully engaged with the workforce or the site’s legacy culture.

Recent safety concerns have only amplified these feelings. Employees want to feel heard, valued, and safe—and right now, there’s a noticeable gap between leadership decisions and workforce sentiment.

Cherry Point has always had the potential to be exceptional. The hope is that leadership will re-engage with the people on the ground and work to rebuild the trust and culture that once made this site so strong.

If you currently work here or have worked here recently, I’d be genuinely interested in hearing about your experience. Is this something others are seeing as well?

they are undergoing a turnaround. a large line which was supposed to be purged and blinded was just blinded and left with 250psi pressured hydrogen. when the clean tractors were open f a controller to be service the high pressure hydrogen vented to atmosphere causing the explosion due to friction. definitely a hypo. bp got lucky.

@t8 so absolutely nothing happened. There wasn’t an explosion and nobody got hurt. Is that what happened. Seriously I would like to know

@OP it’s wild to me that we have had no email or correspondence about the event. Usually we get something the next day.

You all are crying that the incident Cherry Point hasn’t bothered to be put into our safety reporting system hasn’t gotten a shout out?

Go check, no PSE T1 or 2, no HiPo, no fire or explosion.

You want Meg and comms to make a bunch of statements talking about how severe a tiny LOPC H was and call it an explosion even though our database doesn’t say it was?

Tell me you’ve never met a lawyer

See, exactly. Not even a message in ITK. And on the anniversary of Macondo, no less. Google bp Cherry Point. There was an explosion. No fatalities, thank god

Assume yet another process safety incident? Not surprising in a company that never learns and any semblance of corporate memory long gone in perpetual reorganizations.

I agree that Cherry Point has historically had a very strong culture, stemming from its heritage as an original ARCO refinery. Please explain the specific recent changes you think have led to the decay?
