I have been with the company for around 15 years and have yet to receive any actionable feedback or coaching. I must be a rockstar right? My assessment results have varied wildly but I have never been below VG. I am not a hipo. It is extremely frustrating to receive feedback that cannot be actioned such as your role is limiting your assessment outcome and get a new role.

@OP Sounds like you have a BS job that’s up for automation or outsourcing.
We all know the visible and valued roles where one being a dessert well is a foregone conclusion are reserved for the hipos.
That’s the whole secret behind the longevity of this corrupt ranking system: if they actually coached people, held themselves accountable, or focused on real development, their entire ranking circus would collapse.
It is extremely frustrating to sit in assessment meetings and have the differentiating contributions be things that anyone in the role being discussed would have done.
The connection between assessment results and your role is real. Too bad we don’t have any control over our assignments.
