Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Isn’t it Weird…

Given that this site is anonymous, isn’t it kind of crazy the amount of speculation that occurs on here? Meaning…no one with information actually posts on here. Incentive being, you can see all these posts of people freaking out, toxicity, anxiety, etc…wouldn’t you think if you had information to share, you’d share it? Like what is the downside? That people hate this place even more? People are more anxious? People stop working? Lol.
It’s already happening. We are the number 1 company on this site. I can’t see things getting much worse. The views per post are insane, given they aren’t bots. People look, but just scroll on by. It’s extremely weird, and asocial. The effort it takes to share info on here is so low…the asymmetrical upside makes it so odd to me that not one person ever shares anything. It makes you realize these people we call “leaders” are some of the most self-centered people we come across in society. Like can you imagine seeing hundreds of people in distress and you SEE IT and had the power to help, and you’re like nah. Everyone at this company goes on this site, VP to analyst, so none of this bs that the plebes are the only people on here. Just so weird. This place is f’d man. Or maybe I’m the odd one out that if I were a VP or above I’d share what I could to help my fellow man/woman.

Great post @OP. The answer to your ”what is the downside” question is simple. Employees do not want to lose their six-figure jobs and/or go to prison for violating the Business Code of Conduct and the Non-Disclosure Agreement. In addition, please note the following:

  • This site is NOT anonymous, you are a “nameless poster”, if you so choose. As per the ”Privacy Policy”, TheLayoff collects ”log data” and will release it in legal and emergency situations.
  • NIKE is NOT the number one company on the TheLayoff. Many companies have more threads/posts, views, reactions, replies/comments, and deleted threads/posts.
  • The posts regarding ”people freaking out, toxicity, anxiety, etc…” are just hyperbole.
  • NIKE U.S. employment is “At-Will”.

@a2 listen, I don’t believe in this for the same reason I don’t believe in conspiracy theories… not because I trust other humans, but because people are way too lazy and d-mb to pull them off. With extremely few exceptions think through the practical execution of what you are suggesting. Telling another person information specific enough that you could, without a doubt tie it to them. Constantly monitoring this and other forums to see if that information pops up… and then somehow trying to prove that the one came from the other? People are too lazy to do the jobs they are paid to do. A practical example…”Layoffs will be the week of ” … ooh, you really have got them now. I’m sure only one person could’ve possibly known/guessed/made that up. Come on…

I got you OP. I think you meant...

"Isn’t it wild how much speculation happens here, even though it’s anonymous? You’d think that would make it easier for people with real information to share, but it almost never happens.

Instead, it’s mostly anxiety and people spiraling. If someone actually had useful insight, what’s the downside of posting it? Things are already tense.

This is one of the most viewed company pages here, so people are clearly paying attention. They read, but don’t contribute, which is what feels strange. The effort to share something helpful is so low.

It makes you wonder if the people with real information, including leadership, just choose not to engage. Everyone reads this site.

Seeing so many people anxious and saying nothing, even when you could help, feels off. Maybe that’s just me, but I’d share what I could."

Don’t let the venting and bi--hing posts fool you - whenever something’s cooking, this is where the first real signals pop up. No idea how, since I seriously doubt any manager’s brave (or d-mb) enough to post here, but legit updates still show up way before anything official. Engagement could be better, sure, but it’s still well above the usual 90–9–1 rule. Even this TL;DR thread already has a bunch of replies with different takes.

I used to think Nike was just hard to get into because it was elite. Now I realize it’s hard to get into because it’s a closed loop of nepotism. The 'competitive' vibe is actually just a cover-up for a toxic culture where social skills are completely optional for management, provided you know the right people

@OP Your post is too long, I didn't like it, voted it down 'cos I didn't find it any useful info in it.

Counterintelligence. You share a slightly different bit of information to a group of people, and anyone that leaks a particular version of that information is identified as the leaker.
