Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

T avoiding top WMAs in Orlando?

A little birdie told me that T was in Orlando with all the top performers in Wealth last week, but refused to interact with anyone. Any truth to this? Did she look like she wanted to be somewhere else? What was the vibe like? You'd think that a department that brings in billions of external $$ would get the best energy from the CEO. Just curious at this point.

@OP WMA is very much overrated. Most saavy aka smart professors have their money now at Schwab, Vanguard or Fidelity. Everyone knows that 75% of the money that get's rolled into TIAA in the first place is going to happen unsolicited anyway. 15% is word of mouth from one professor to another talking to another. 10% is due to the influence of the high priced WMA. AI is the existential threat which will make WMA as we know it today nearly extinct in 10 years.

There have been numerous complaints from the WMAs about the inefficient process that was introduced to them, leading to the departure of multiple WMAs. They are actively working on rectifying the situation, but it’ll take considerable time to unravel and fix the process and systems. Especially being fiscally constrained right now.

I don’t see T as someone who seeks to interact with the commoner either. At least, based on what I’ve heard, whenever she is in Charlotte or Frisco, she maintains her bubble of influence at the EC level instead.

Wonder if it has anything to do with the WMAs being big a—holes

Has that new whistleblower case been resolved yet? What division did that come from? You see, the thing about top producers, real top producers and not the ones created by steering leads, is that they aren’t afraid of management. They can produce anywhere. Perhaps T holds a grudge against the type of WMA’s who just DGAF about their director’s authority?
