Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

My laptop becomes a brick now

They setup a PIN on it just now.
I had thought I can still use my outlook email till 4/10.

I sent some farewell messages to several colleagues earlier, but haven't received any reply yet. Not sure if they haven't received it, or they're also laid off, or they just don't want to talk to me anymore, LOL

They won't reply as folks believe layoffs are contagious.

@OP I responded to several farewell emails today but received nothing back. Now wondering if the senders received them.

Wouldn't be surprising if they implemented a way for your outgoing emails after the call to not go through.

Companies worldwide who are doing these mass layoffs now are essentially immediately cutting off access to systems after layoff notification, because they are afraid of being put on blast by disgruntled laid-off people.

There has recently been an uptick with people who are fed-up with being treated like dirt at work, who when told they've been laid-off, then pen scathing "farewell" messages to their boss/es, HR, and cc-ing the entire rest of the company's individual employees; saying EXACTLY how they've been mistreated, and by whom.

Naming names and places and things in particular, in a no holds barred, adios/adieu/FU final email doesn't look good for "leadership" and the company as a whole, so the latest trend is for them to try to cut you off at the pass, by not allowing you access to company-wide email almost immediately after they let you know you've been chosen to hit the bricks.

For those who are inclined to write and send such an email, it might behoove them to get it written and saved into a Word doc (complete with "To" recipients' email addys included) which is OFF company systems/devices, then WHEN ON THE LAYOFF CALL, quickly open that doc, copy, then paste its contents into a company email and hit SEND immediately as the call is wrapping up. Don't even wait until the call is finished, hit send right when you're saying, "Goodbye". lol.

Not necessarily recommending this, but it's certainly an option.
Something to think about, and possibly prepare for oneself ahead of time.

@OP Most likely they don't want to talk to you is my guess unless you were close with them. I don't work for this company, but my group is the same. We are not that close. Don't have lunch with each other. Only talk when we have meeting or when we absolutely need to collaborate. I worked with this group for 5 years and a new manager for about a year, and the Indian manager has made it so toxic for the team. He even made me tearful during my performance rating review (right in front of him) for giving me a low rating for the first time after working for the same company for over 20 years. I worked really hard on an assignment I had no knowledge about while the rest of the team only continued to work on what they had experience from for the past 20 years. I felt really "small". I get teary just thinking about it. I hope no one experience that feeling. It's time for me to leave this company. Just wish the job market was better with all the AI tools taking over jobs. But I need to believe in myself. With all the experience on my side, there has to be a job for me out there.
