Oracle’s policy on laying off when on paternity leave

I am currently on paternity to end in two weeks and am planning to save some of it for later use when needed. However with the latest news of RIFs on the 31st, need help to decide if I should extend and use all of it or does it bheven matter if I am on the list. Any genuine advice is appreciated!!

I’ve seen both a colleague who was on paternity leave and another on medical leave get “impacted” before in NA Sales. When everyone, regardless of their race, s-x, religion or status is impacted, there’s no grounds for “discrimination”. If the entire team is re-org’ed and your position no longer exists it doesn’t matter if you were on leave. The guy on paternity leave had to find internal transfer within 2 weeks to get himself unlisted from Exit list. The guy who was on medical leave for his cancer treatment contacted HR and negotiated delayed last day but was still impacted. Have some compassion and help those in need as much as we all can when we can. You never know when it’s your turn.

My 2 cents....it doesn't matter for layoffs.Do whatever you had planned.

Last time they waited two weeks after people in medical leave came back, and then laid them off.

@OP despite the leave, the deciders do not consider you "productive". You aren't generating revenue so you are in a bad spot. Personally, I would base any decisions on the assumption that you will be RIF'ed.

All this talk about being unreachable, on vacation, out sick, out on leave etc. does not matter. You are an at will employee, they can let you go at anytime they choose. The only exception being if you are out on medical leave, because no company want's to deal with the potential legal repercussions of letting go an employee that is out for a medical issue.
