Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

@OP I get the impression that you’re frustrated that your management doesn’t value your contributions and you’re trying to make a statement by quitting in a very public way. You may even be hoping that they’ll be sorry to see you go and try to retain you.

Have no such illusion and resist that temptation! Verizon truly doesn’t value you and high employee turnover is a feature not a bug in their system.

If need be, take advantage of the available training to gain more marketable skills and walk away from this bad situation without making a fuss. You’re resigning to pursue other opportunities and that’s all they need to know.

@OP
1- Start applying elsewhere. You may discover that your skills and experience are currently in demand in your area or you may discover the opposite.
2- If the local job search is unsuccessful, you can consider relocating but keep in mind that mortgage rates are currently higher which may be a problem.
3- You should only volunteer for the next layoff or resign after successfully finding another job.
4- As a temporary measure you can check if any internal openings are a better fit for you. There’s strong correlation between internal job hopping and career progression at Verizon. You may discover that being a jack of all trades but a master of none is your true calling.

As for your original question, just tell your boss verbally then follow up with an email to your boss and your team’s HR business partner.

If you manage to find another job AND get laid off, you’ll get severance pay and the option to keep your concession cell phone number.

OP: why y'all bashing me lol. If you stick around till you're laid off that's fine, do you boo boo. Rather go out on my own terms, I'm in the driver seat of my life. Verizon ain't what it used to be why would you still be loyal to the machine? I used to dream of doing 30+ years here, living a comfy life, benefits are great right. But the #1 ki-ler is stress and this place has become a cesspool all over

Dan the axe man going to get his bonus one way or another. We are all just a number.

@OP YOU GO GIRL !!!
btw, if your future goes south after you leave these friendly shores this, unfriendly-to-the-worker-economy, might be unnavigable but, that's where you're now stuck as worker bees now, in a country that's winning so much we can't even believe it (eye-roll) - at least if you're rich and shorted the war we were unaware was about to start.

OP: it's a sinking ship don't you all see that? National turnkey bids, SOW vendors doing all capital projects and coming in to do everything A-Z. Anyone with half a brain would be looking to get out right now or begging for a VSP/RIF any sort severance. Everything is so expensive so people are staying just for the check. Not I.
