Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum is such a mess

It's too much expecting things to improve when it's not just one thing, it's everything. Change the leadership, but if we still have the outdated systems, the processes that require I jump through fifteen hoops to get something done, and the nonexistent morale among the employees, thing will hardly improve. This place needs a major overhaul, top to bottom.

@dk depending on what state you live in, some states they have to pay out your PTO

@b8 This. We need private equity not currently connected to UHG but yet that knows health care to come in and clean house. Not sure this is possible because the smart ones know there isn't profit in for-profit health care.

When is the next layoff date? I want to be sure to use all of my PTO before then. Enjoying it all and leaving 0 hrs before getting the boot.

Don’t forget the line managers that cherry pick their work and if their team is lucky they might get some meaningful work….but in those cases it only goes to their favorites. The line managers cannot and do not manage … they are extremely overpaid basic developers.

I'm continuously amazed that they are able to start in business at all. Nearly every day I gave a moment where I feel like I'm being punked. The incompetence, inefficiency and disorganization are truly astounding. The place is a freaking dumpster fire.

Toxic culture of backstabbing, blame game, corner cutting, offshoring and no real unity. No motivation to work to common goals, just punch the ticket and go. Down fall started after the Ingenix rename

If they want to be an efficient company they need to let go many of the CEOs and VPs, they are there to only make money. They don't care about renewals, public relations, efficiency, it is all about how greedy they are. It saddens me to see a great company being bankrupt thanks to few.

Customers are finally reacting and speaking with their budgets. Optum's client base is shrinking as fast as [non]renewals allow and commercial team reorgs can accelerate.

You are not wrong. They have a close circle of incompetent people who make things go from bad to worse. Plus they pay them way too much. It’s unreal yet so predictable. On top of that there is no motivation to “go above and beyond”. I can be the very best and still get RIFed so why bother?
