RIFs will continue to happen in most LOB, not just GBD. They can blame insurance changes, AI, etc.,but the main reason is due to the offshoring of US jobs. Corporate greed at it's worst.

Unless you don’t need the money and are working at Elevance for your charming co-workers everyone at Elevance should be a) saving as much as they can b) updating their resume and acquiring skills c) networking d) continually looking for other options. I wouldn’t jump ship without a lifeboat but you’d be crazy not to be lining up your lifeboat options

Hate to create more anxiety but unfortunately GBD is where a lot of the issues are that are causing cost pressures and stock price drops. So I think they are aligning RIFs to those areas.

Rifs are rolling. Many departments, including mine have been affected multiple times. Our team has had Rifs 4 times since late 2024. So unfortunately, being in a department where there has been a rif doesn't mean that you won't be affected the next time there is one or even the time after that. Rif seems to be the culture.
