Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

I'm now hoping to be laid off

Things were okay until about six months ago, when a new manager showed up and everything shifted. He has clear favorites, people he protects no matter what, while the rest of us get nothing but criticism and constant pressure. The atmosphere has turned toxic in a way you can feel the moment you walk in, and people who used to talk and help each other now mostly keep their heads down and try to stay under the radar. When layoffs first became a probability, I was petrified, but lately I catch myself almost hoping for it, because at least then I would have a reason to leave without it feeling like my fault, and that is honestly where I am now.

@av This exact same area was really bad over at US Cellular, and word is some managers were let go after the merger because of it.

@OP sounds like my market. Clearly there are the golden ones who can do ZERO wrong. All special projects go to them. I have gotten to the point where I do the minimum required

This is a problem in the Midwest region as well. Specifically the KC/NE/IA/MO region. No matter how good you are, it doesn’t matter when the manager doesn’t help you and only helps their favorites. They will give deals to their favorites (house deals) and make others suffer by not assisting with special pricing and following through with potential customers on making the deal close.

Talking to HR might be a win win. Gets some eyes on his favoritism and also might put you on the layoff list. They don’t like it when any sort of risk for the company emerges.
