Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

What I’m Most Disappointed in in EH

When EH first came on, he mentioned how Nike would be turning a new page and lay offs wouldn’t be like the past. More of a restructuring of roles rather than saying goodbye to teammates. Since then, it’s been lay-off after layoffs, more than the JD era it seems. And even with all these lay offs, the stock is lower than it’s ever been. Maybe he was just blowing smoke up our as--s, but makes it hard to trust leadership when they do the opposite of what they promise and then also kicks our stock/part of our pay in the gonads. Just get a double whammy.

@OP I think EH is just a face with no real power on general direction of the company.
I think the real power is Parker or worse yet PK in his old self.
Kind of they way Al Davis used send the plays to field for Head coach when the Raiders played. You know how that sh3t went down.

@OP Nike has doubled in headcount size in the last 20 years. Why wouldn’t they reduce head count in hard economic times? It’s a business, not a charity.

@cp ... nbd but it was ES (rhymes with Unc) who was the coo that recruited and hired RL back in June 2019. A year later ES got passed over for ceo and was out. JD then also loved RL. Took a village to finally get him out. "RL’s 20-year track record in building seamless consumer experiences and leading teams through dynamic, digital transformations will further accelerate our growth,” said ES. He's back roaming whq ...

We are staffed for a $52b, we in reality we are at $48b. It’s pretty easy to see that we need to cut.

I will concede that the optics of EH jet setting are not great. But he is a salesman and that is his comfort zone. Begs the question: When EH is out of town, who is tasked with the difficult (and far from complete) work of righting this ship? That said, if he is going to sell…then drum up some new business. Why not call on accounts that Nike isn’t already in contract with?

No way was EH responsible for RAT. that was all JD and AC who's last name sounds like champion. In fact if I remember right wasn't AC collateral damage from RAT misdeeds.

Wait… EH was responsible for The Rat? I didn’t know that one.

And yeah… things aren’t going well. If this was the NFL it would be the equivalent of a 0-17 record.

If you believe everything that comes out of every executives mouth, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
Seriously though, painful foundational change takes years. Cost cutting thru headcount reduction is quick and easy. And let's be frank, GT at Nike is bloated and inefficient.
If I were EH or RA, I'd first take a look at the top heavy executive ranks first and trim the fat there.

When EH took over he started at a very low base and the only direction possible was upwards, but this id--t is taking it notches below. Those who are criticising JD should remember that the only time Nike exceeded 50bn in revenues and $165 stock price was in his tenure. It will be his life's redemption if EH can take the stock back to $85, the price at which he started his tenure.

We got tariffs ducking us. We have gas prices ducking us. We Hokka & On ducking. All that and your disappointed in ehill? Granted he hasn't done anything, but he was responsible for Ratnakar, hiring the d-mbest people from the village to work in full time & ete spots. What is wrong with you?

The grass isn’t always greener folks. For EH it sure appears to be, galavanting around the globe for distasteful photo ops while he’s gone against his word laying off many committed employees. Those people scroll by the parading and poorly timed photo ops on socials while they navigate a horrible job market, the people with families to feed and shelter. His words were encouraging, now they’re proof he has no back bone and shouldn’t be in the seat he’s in. Shame on him, and many others. Remember, there’s a reason JD was chosen over him. EH is making JD look good..

As someone says he is id--t hill. Basically he looks like an uneducated person in front of JD.
After he has taken over stock prices have nose dived by 20%, despite the layoffs.
