Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Those saying they will do the bare minimum

Wouldn't it be better to actually do your best till whenever you are at Oracle so that you don't have regrets later or you won't wonder if karma has come to bite you when something goes wrong in the future.

@d8 Epic post. These comments, on this post, this is truly from people like myself that suffered for years at Oracle. Under the horrible mgmt that all seem totally clueless as to what is really going on. It is great to see people being brutally honest. As someone said, Oracle mgmt had like decades to listen to their employees concerns. Well, if you don't listen to me after my first 15-20 times, why should I listen to you (Oracle mgmt)? Proud of everyone who spoke their truth. It is mentally freeing. To the dude who watches full length Amazon Prime movies every week...you are my quan Sir.

Spot on, @OP! Too many brain-dead commenters here just don't "get it". They down-vote your comment because they're lazy, incompetent toads who DESERVE to be laid off.

Considering Oracle will be my last job, they can s--kit twice. Work harder? FU, they should have listened to the employees over MULTIPLE years begging for any pay increase at all. Work smarter? use AI? take on extra work? Nope, nope and no-ho-ho-ho-hope. A package would be good but I don’t really need it. In my mind and actions I’ve already left, Oracle just hasn’t realized it yet. Hopefully my lack of effort affects things. It’s the only time in my 35 year career that I’ve rooted against the company I work for. Thanks for the paychecks though. Seems like free money considering how little work I now do.

@bj as stated, think before you act. If you really believe that doing the bare minimum after being a top contributor will actually be interpreted as "oh, we should have been paying this person more" or "oh, this person is indispensable", I think you are sadly mistaken. Gambling with your job is not your best decision. All you have done by stopping being a top contributor is drop yourself into the pool of mediocre employees. This is most likely the pool that will be drained first. You are no longer exceptional. You are underestimating the painful reality of unemployment.

"why not work harder" makes sense the first few times your employer shafts you. After a while "be grateful you have a job at all" doesnt inspire. Morale impacting productivity is a real thing, even though clownish Oracle leadership pretends otherwise.

I have been doing less than bare minimum for the last two years working here. What can I say other than I I like to slack. If I’m lucky I get to watch a full length Amazon Prime members movie while at work. I also sleep great at night😎
If I get laid off I’ll just move on.

@OP, do you know how many IC4 and IC3 are in same positions for 10-15+ years who are much talented than some ah* managers or directors sitting above them ?

@b6 , these are not careless people.
They are tired over contributors when others were simply sitting and enjoying their contributions.
The contributions has reached a level when they felt they no longer get any benefits and are fooled by their management.
If you have to stop, you have to stop the bureaucracy
If you want to let go, you have to let go his manager or senior manager

You can work with monkey minds when you pay peanuts.

@b1 no said be stupid, the theme is think before you act. Having a job, even a bad one, is far better than being unemployed. If you are unhappy go find your next job and then leave. Giving your current employer reasons to fire you is a really bad idea right now. Start looking for your next job and you will see that it is a tough job market. You will need a lot of money to bridge the time until your next job, if you don't have it than don't be careless with your current employment.

@ar the job market has shifted radically to favor the employers right now. It isn't fair but what does fair have to do with anything anymore. Open your eyes and look around. The economy is struggling (and no, the stock market isn't the economy), debt is off the charts, the cost of living may have slightly stabilized but it is still going up, and the world hasn't been this unstable in years. The job market is tight right now. If a company is hiring they literally have thousands of qualified people to choose from and any of them who have been unemployed for a while will work for a lot less than you are getting paid.

You are really going to want to keep your job at any cost. Things are more likely to get far worse before they start to get better. If you get to keep your job use it as a wake up call and plan for difficult times. They are coming.

Once your name is on the list it makes no difference. I was literally still replying to work emails when I was leaving the building with 27 years of stuff in as box.

@OP

😅😆🤣😂😆🤣😅😂

No. Just no. My only regrets are that I helped Oracle earn any profit and if I believed in karma, it'd be based on how I treated my family, neighbors, friends, pets, etc and not at all on what kind of sychophantic corporate su-k-up I was.

Try a little harder next time, even if you have to think. Trust me, it won't hurt you.

Was ki-ling myself previous year, working through weekends, got 5 performance rating, delivered literally triple amount to average every sprint.
Result: no bonus, no raise. I guess I should be profusely thanking for still having my job.
Yeah, fu-k off.

No, I was loyal to Oracle and it wasn’t loyal back. Why should I work my butt off for a total comp that is now equal to a new hire 2 levels below me.

Pay me that low I’ll output that low. There is no upside anymore.

Give me refreshers and a pay bump (at least middle band), then we will talk.
