We spend decades learning how to do this work. Layoffs can erase all of that in a day. That's going to hurt us eventually.

Time to start selling “golden ticket” agreements where a customer can buy unlimited use of all our products for 2 to 3 years. Customer rarely fall for this, but it’s the last ditch effort to make quota at all cost.
@eh but you showed up about 2/3ds the way through. Already a lot of cuts and a quota for more...
Death by 1000 cuts.
Eventually?!?!? It's been ki-ling us for years!
Eventually? Have you popped your head up out of your cubicle and looked around at the current state?
@OP look at Computer Associates and Silicon Graphics. That’s the playbook. Eventually all non-core will be sold off and AI and ECM will be acquired by a tech giant like Broadcom
or IBM. Note Mark and all the ELT got rich in this process and the only people that suffer are employees and middle management that are left holding the bag with RSUs and stock options underwater or no stocks at all with a below average salary.
There is no respect for tribal knowledge even in product development and support. Executive hope AI will solve everything, if not move on and never look back.
I’ll be submitting some tough questions for my ELT’s next town hall, but I expect they will ignore them and just answer the fly ball questions they want to answer.
@OP
One look at the OT 5 or 10 year stock chart reflects their business strategy (or lack thereof).
They have continually bought companies, racking up a ton of debt, then on Legal Day 1 lay off key people including ones that understand the product..
Rinse and Repeat. Hopefully the new
Leadership team that will be brought in will breakup the company and pay off debt and return something to the shareholders.
Either way another new wave of layoffs will be inevitable.
