Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

You know the layoffs are going to be REALLY bad when they're actually announcing it for once

Oracle has been conducting stealthy layoffs for many years. In today's news, where they were compelled to publicly announce them, you know it's going to be bad and reverberate throughout the entire company. Your only safety net is if you're best buddies with the folks in your Management team. And TBH, that may not even keep you safe this time.

"IT's just like the 30K layoff rumors last month."

Except the number is still projected as "up to 30K". It's just that it hasn't happened yet.

Anyone surprised from this needs to get their head out of …

I believe this needs cooperation from management or it can be quite difficult.

Totally agree with the other poster. Oracle has announced the restructuring costs clearly in their SEC filings. This is the last set for the current fiscal year. They will also announce in 2027 fiscal year more restructuring. Anyone surprised from this needs to get their head out of their managers you know what!

To the people saying that they didn't announce anything, you're sadly mistaken. Read a SEC filing or two.

No-one announced anything. IT's just like the 30K layoff rumors last month.
Oracle wouldn't ever announce that, they would just do it.

Rumors, rumors, rumors.

@b4 unfortunately most of Oracle's tech drones won't follow your common sense suggestion because of the Oracle Doormat Principle.

Only safey net? Not at all. I’m leaving Oracle in a matter of months so I’ve been actively underperforming hoping for the layoff. I won’t need any sort of recommendation for another job so I’m ready to go whenever at a minute’s notice, but I’m hoping for a package. Regardless though, it’s very empowering knowing I’m in control. No layoffs = I walk. Layoffs = I walk with some extra pocket money. I feel for those who may be trapped. Save your money so you have 6 months to a years salary then resign. Make ypur career goal be your savings account. Build up your “F you” savings account then say F you! The power and control over your own destiny is worth it!!!!

I just opened Apple News and searched for "Oracle". The results page were LOADED with articles about it published in the last 20 hours.

It's happening, kids.
