Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

@e4 Which ones aren't real and how do you know? As a manager that's hired people in the past, it seems like a lot of paperwork to file for a job opening to not hire (at least at Paramount). If it appears that people aren't getting contacted after applying, blame the application process. Weeding through hundreds (possibly thousands) of applications isn't easy. Just when you think you have a good process, applicants find ways to game the system. It's perpetual cat-and-mouse game where no one wins. I really wish some of the biggest job posting boards would require some sort of certified vetting to use their "easy to apply" method. Or maybe charge a nominal per 20 applications to stop the bots.

Our team has been actively interviewing people. HR seems a bit overwhelmed and things are slow going (screening, setting up interviews, etc). Each recruiter seems to be assigned so many jobs that's it's hard to coordinate stuff in a timely manner. We've definitely lost candidates because of how slow it takes to hire. They get past screening, but drop out before their first interview since they've already landed a job. Also, Paramount doesn't always pay a competitive rate for some roles. I've seen similar active roles at other media companies with higher pay scales. HR doesn't seem to care. Good luck to anyone applying.

@OP seems like hiring has been on ice for years, save for a few slivers of growth areas for the business or purely priority backfill.
