If you’re not happy with your current position but the manager has not put you on a performance plan yet, can you tell your manager you want to volunteer to be out then you have 90 days- sounds like severance. Seems like a win- win.

@OP
It was explained to me by my manager as, you receive a rating of "bad", aka the lowest rating. 1) you are offered a PIP with a 90 day next review date with the expectation you are able to dig yourself out of the hole but highly unlikely because they would have given you a 2- if they wanted to keep you without the PIP, or 2) you accept a voluntary separation with 90 days of severance and unemployment benefits, to look for a new job. Chevron is tired of paying out the 2 weeks for every year of service to the retirees. The golden parachute days are over. This will start with the 2026 PMP and continue until the USA employees are replaced by the Engine staff. I have every reason to believe my manager when this was explained to me, he is a straight sho-ter.
@ch that’s not what OP is asking wise-azz. OP is not happy with the position he/she has been placed in and would rather not suffer through it. Has not indicated whether their performance is in question or not. I feel your reading comprehension is lacking.
Monetization of quiet quitting... but management sanctioned. Brilliant.
The current situation is to encourage PIP’s and encourage leaving. Next round of layoffs will be much less as PIP’s will reduce costs significantly.
That three months is the severance in this place. I would be gone the minute the PIP hit.
Maybe you can just be let go for being stupid. There is no severance if they let you go for performance. Jeez…be happy you have a job, get back to work.
