Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

It’s the budget, band 4’s be aware

Cigna no longer looks at performance anymore. You either are a stellar performer or a terrible one, if you make too much that’s thier budget they need to cut. If you make a little less they’ll keep you and pile on that other persons work they just let go. They layoff based on budget now so if you make a lot be warned.

Not true. Band 2 and 3s have also been laid off. It ain’t all just about the amount of money someone was making.

@OP this is true. Unless your dept has duplicative non-essential roles, they will eliminate one role to save money. If not, they then will look to cut any position where the person makes more than others on the team, especially if they were hired +6 years ago, when Cigna’s salary was higher. I noticed same / similar positions are a lot lower now in 2026 than it was 6 years ago, plus you are required to go in the office 3 days. It’s disgusting how Cigna expect people to take drastic pay cuts when food prices and inflation has skyrocketed. If your manager effectively manages the dept’s budget (eliminate your position) they get rewarded ($$$ bonus).

Yep, was looking at near 160k base + 12% bonus this year after merit, B4 IT/engineering. Was hired during the inflated IT salary COVID bo-m.

Coworkers + senior advisors above me barely knew how to code. It was very obvious they failed upwards by looking busy all day via sitting in meetings through their phone (meetings they didn't need to be in, mind you) while they ran errands and shuttled their kids around.
