Increase office monitoring- any truth to it?

I've heard of folks being let go for not staying the full day at the office and leaving early... supposedly HR is checking as of the past 6 months. Any truth to this? Has any managers heard of this?

These are rumors. No one is watching that closely and if they are, that specific manager has nothing to do and they are tying to look busy.

I have heard of multiple people who were let go for this in the last few months. I also overheard phone calls (of someone who must be in HR) talking to a manager about an employee’s hours as if there were concerns (more recently).

@OP You’re being a bit paranoid, buddy. There’s a similar thread on TIAA about this, but judging by the engagement, 50+ replies, it looks like it’s actually happening there.

This policy is so childish, grow up Abby! The only thing that should matter is if employees are producing. If this were my company I'd be listening to the staff and if I could cut down on some rental overhead I would.

I haven’t seen these “new policy” articles on fidcentral, but you can bet that if they’re making a point of stating what kind of attendance they want, then HR is looking for people who don’t meet that criteria and will alert managers where they see a pattern of non-compliance. I recommend using common sense and not having a pattern of non-compliance that will be picked up by HR and brought to your manager’s attendance. That is, if you are working for the money and wouldn’t be happy to be let go for cause (no severance) or having your bonus withheld. How much non-compliance gets you flagged, idk, but you don’t want to find out.

For those who don’t know, it’s not your manager who decides these things, it’s HR.

I have consistently been badging in late for the past 2 years (Badge in time 11am - 1PM) - but staying for 4-6 hours- with around 90% attendance during connect weeks.

Good performance record/ no other issues.

I received the full 4 week bonus in December and I haven’t been spoken to about my attendance or time in office thus far.

However - with this new attendance policy on fid central - I’m now a bit nervous. I’m also noticing the parking lots are absolutely filled up and people are staying longer - post that new policy.

Anyone else with similar or worse attendance?

I mean, a lot of us didn't get an Xmas bonus or raise in Dec because we weren't spending enough time in office. You can find the thread from back then.

@ky wrong. Managers can see attendance records for their employees via Workday but they cannot see how many hours people are in the office.

I’m a people manager and have never received any kind of report about my associates. It hasn’t been communicated to me that my bonus has anything to do with their attendance either.

@OP It’s not a rumor, managers and above get reports daily about the beloved turn styles, when we come in and when we walk out. Just rely on the fact that Big Brother watches everything. EVERYTHING

This is all BS. What we know is what they publish on fid central how they enforce it is kept hush hush on purpose. Just do your time in office and your bonus and employment stay intact. Learn to stay off radars people.

Some immature d*ckwad is starting rumors here and on the TIAA Layoffs thread, with the exact wording of this post, and the same writing style and wording of the comments, pretending to be multiple different people / managers who all “attest” to the validity of the rumors that in-office time and days have been scrutinized more recently. Read through the TIAA post that looks exactly like this one, with someone also coincidentally saying 30 people were let go from TIAA. The person can’t provide any details or answers to valid questions people have. Just keeps doubling down and acting butt hurt, commenting pretending to be multiple other people who all claim the rumors are true. This id--t also claims on the TIAA post that “oops, I meant to post here on TIAA, accidentally posted on Fidelity”. Did he/she also accidentally reply to the post claiming that 30 people were let go? And also accidentally reply again saying there was a gentle reminder from the manager? On both the TIAA post and on here? Accidentally pretended to be multiple people on two different company threads? I don’t see them over here correcting themselves that the meant to post on TIAA’s thread. That’s because they haven’t been called out for lying yet on this thread. Until now. Moral of the story: probably nothing is changing in terms of in-office requirements. Just a single simpleton who doesn’t have the brain power to keep a complex web of lies going, trying to incite some mild panic.

People managers were informed that their bonus is now tied to their teams attendance. Associates who are not in the office regularly now risk not only their own bonus, but their managers too. Call it what you will, but I wont be risking my bonus and will be following up with those not in the office.

@bb

4) A person who drags their a-s to the office and sits in the noisy unproductive open floor 50% of the time because that’s what’s required to get my paycheck and it’s a bad job market and I haven’t saved enough for retirement so I’m doing what I need to do to stay employed.

@ac

Which category most closely describes you?

1)Micromager/Tinpot Dictator - gets most of their personal satisfaction from controlling other people and having power over them

2) Bootlicker/Toady - a person who enjoys backstabbing and spying on people and who su-ks up to persons in Category 1

3) S-xist/predator men - see a job as a place to hit on women and look for companies run by someone in Category 1 to either protect them or be their wingman.

New “attendance requirements” articles were published on Fid Central recently. Seems like they’ll definitely be increasing the scrutiny and penalties for leaving connect days early or arrived late. Just adds to the depressing unhealthy environment, only thing management is good at doing!!!

Haha good. They had plenty of warning that time in office was being looked at.

Probably only hourly people. Only 2 hours in office is ridiculous - they should be spoken to. Why even bother at that point?

It's true unfortunately, my manager gave me a 'gentle reminder' about the office requirements, supposedly 30 people were let go last week due to averaging less than 2 hours at the office
