I had AI make my end of year summary for me, I briefly looked it over and submitted it, it was a tad fluffy, gracious and full of the big words we all love. I got an “exceeding” rating. I’m baffled. The EOY my AD read me was certainly AI generated and you could tell it was her first time reading it. In the end, my AI summary helped my boss write her AI review and boosted me to Exceeding. How is this broken down? Did only a certain % on each SD team get each rating?

I'm number 10! I turned it red!
The whole review ratings thing is a big joke. Total waste of everybody's time not to mention it really doesn't matter at all.
@OP anyone know what the old ratings were? Was it developing, performing, leading ?
@OP the last three reviews read exactly the same as my peers.
Sometimes even had their name in it. This means nothing g
Our exceeding and top performing were handed to the 2 biggest su-k ups. It was a popularity contest this year as always
I was told on my team they could only give one person higher than a 3 rating. If they tried to give two people a higher rating HR would change it. I was also told they were required to give at least one person a low 1 or 2 rating, regardless of performance. This is really a bunch of BS since they are not comparing me against my peers across the company, just the people on my immediate team.
Everyone starts at achieving then goes from there. Yes only a certain percentage can get placed in the upper ratings, there are limits. Your manager also has to fight for it during calibration meetings. AI was heavily pushed this year to use.
Your use of Gemini did not get you the exceeding rating.
Remember in 2026 there are now 5 Ratings (not 4).
- Top Performing
- Exceeding
- Achieving
- Approaching
- Need Improvement
Your leaders must be really incompetent. Most people in our org wrote their year end using Gemini.. All of my team got achieving this year..
Last year i wrote my own year end review and got exceeding. It’s about the work/ project you have for that year vs writing using Gemini .
