Dell just held its field readiness submit (FRS). In principle, it’s a great idea. It’s essentially a sales kick off, with one distinct difference… no individual contributors (account executives and presales) are in attendance at all - only managers. The last time we checked, managers don’t sell.. what an absolute joke! Instead, individual contributors watch online / virtual contact. Wake up dell leadership!!!!

@OP Oh wow, that's new. Years ago, I remember co-presenting with the Microsoft Dell partner lead and the actual sellers were in attendance. I can't image if it was just the managers with the sellers online. During the time I was there, it was interactive -- because they actually sold the products. Oh my. How frustrating for them that management changed the format.
I’m expecting the managers to give full blown presentations when they back to train the staff. Let’s really break it down for the team.
I always thought frs was a JOKE post covid. They never made ics participate before and it was the best week cause all the managers were gone.
Post covid it was virtual. All day. And we HAD to participate now? Why? Im glad its back to the waybill used to he cause we all need a break from our micromanaging managers. They should hold FSR every quarter so they leave more often.
why do you need to attend FRS to sell?
You know the products, so go sell.
They get what they invest in.
Many sales teams rely heavily on brand recognition to drive results, which often reduces the role to order fulfillment rather than strategic selling. This is why Dell tends to undervalue inside sales positions, as the role is largely focused on transactional and process driven tasks.
@cj Plus its a completley different landscape since they sold anything.
It is funny how people who have never sold or it has been decades since they have sold, are teaching their employees how to sell. Imagine being a new special forces recruit being taught Close Quarters Battle (CQB) by someone who is an id--t who never served in the military. If Dell wants to sell more, learn from the experts who are actually good at selling! Stop insulting us!
Last in person was 2016
The managers get RSU’s while sales gets unattainable commission targets
Yes you must prioritize more impactful responsibilities such as managing quotes, tracking order status, maintaining goal files, supporting Try-and-Buys, and leveraging SalesChat.
They don’t bring sales in because everyone’s buried in quotes and price files instead of actually selling.
FRS has been a joke for 20 yrs..... You must be new lol
@OP "Wake up Dell leadership?" Now that's funny. Even when they're awake they're asleep.
FRS content is 90% marketing BS anyway, so better have it online, at least I can switch to more productive tasks whenever irrelevant sessions kick in.
Been like that for years - last time FRS was in person for sales was before COVID - now it’s online
