Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Rankings are a joke, they went through and changed all of the annual assessment ratings regardless if you were a high value or not. When they did that, I worked down to the rating they assigned to me. I didn't get a chance to do any KT because there was no one to KT to. Start looking if you haven't already.

The managers have been actively involved in the layoff process, to the point that WEEKS AGO they sent the list of people on their respective teams who are leaving the company. THEY have chosen who's going and who's staying.
So they are well aware of people to talk to, dates, processes to follow, and all that sh*t.

Almost definitely. Likely rankings of employees are given, and the higher ups may pick more or less people from the list. There will be some on the list that are marked as indispensable. So while first line managers might not know 100% for sure who is on the list, there will be no surprises.

@OP absolutely. They would have known for at least a few weeks. It takes time to get the paperwork (severance, exit docs etc.) together. They aren't shocked as well, they or their manager gave your name... regardless if they admit to that or not.

I knew 1 -2 weeks ahead of any action because we had to provide detailed assessment of staff (scores based on previous performance reviews). The night before an action we would go over the irif list. Typically at the 6pm meeting we would establish a schedule for the next morning, go over the legal stuff and agree who would let go staff of another manager who was also on the list.

One key thing to watch for with managers is there shift in relationship with you and how they are assigning projects, tasks or other work across the team 60-90 days out. Also look for words like cross training and etc.

Managers tend to protect themselves because once announcements are made the know that the worker is not emotionally encouraged to transfer knowledge or complete work while waiting for the last day of employment.

Some managers claim no knowledge in these events but in reality they know one to two weeks of official actions and know of rumblings and decisions in the makings 90-120 days out.
