Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

It is amazing

Nothing has changed. Every year, at the same time, the horrid feeling of what’s to come. Here’s my 2 cents:
It’s only getting worse in tech.
Corporate doesn’t care about you.
HR doesn’t care about you.
Yes, HR is ‘secretly’ invited to the meetings - they want to make sure you show up and you may not if you know it’s a goodbye call.
Again,
Corporate doesn’t care about you.
HR doesn’t care about you.
Get out if you can and stop the stress.
I left before they had their way with me, and it was the best thing I ever did. I thought about waiting for severance, but then they would’ve really won wouldn’t they have?
Find a better way. It’s not worth it.
You are better than them. They might not care about you, but you have others who do.

@jc Dude, you continue to embariss yourself. "Who was in charge when the govt was handing out free money like candy? " Your orange cult leader approved first Round (CARES Act - March 2020): $2.2 trillion package which authorized payments of $1,200 per adult ($2,400 for married couples) and $500 per child. He then approved Second Round (December 2020): $900 billion relief package that included $600 checks for adults and $600 per child. Inflation happens later, not instantly, in all economies, so yes, it went up & would of still went up if the orange man had won the election, but he didn't (But I bet you believe otherwise). I don't care about presidents, btw, & they don't "cause" inflation. That's not how it works. THIS IS ALL EASY TO GOOGLE you idi0t. I know you are brainwashed, so there is no hope.

@hp Spin it however you want to but, 2.7 is better than 9%, is it not? It is back to how it was pre-covid, is it not? Who was in charge when the govt was printing money like no tomorrow in order to rack up more debt in order to support a proxy war, which the ONLY reason Ukraine has made it this far is quite literally because of the US...

Who was in charge when the govt was handing out free money like candy? Who was in charge when inflation was at 9.1% after having a 1.4% at start of office? Inflation goes up and down but cmon dude, thanks to covid, biden started his term with a 1.4% inflation rate and somehow he got it to 9.1% in 18 months, then it slowly dropped to the high 2's. His average inflation rate was 5% though.

Imagine if biden had done his job better and kept it sub 2%, instead of causing it to jump to 9.1 in under 2 years?

I’m not saying Dell is great, but I find it odd that people who left long ago and claim to be much happier still come back here to post. The site is toxic, yet it does share useful, and often factual information about what’s actually happening at Dell, which matters to me since I still work here. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be on this site at all.

@dx @dx I would say that 2.7% is way down from 11% …which is where it was a couple of years ago. And I noticed you ignored the rest of my post citing GDP and foreign investments. Perhaps you need to head to your safe space

@dg With some simple fact check googling, you are full of BS. Inflation is not "Way down" . It's moderate at 2.7%. The investments mean nothing & are just words right now. With more layoffs to come & less jobs available with more people looking, the economy is not stable. May not fall apart, but it's not great.

@d7 why would the economy fall apart? 2008 was a housing crisis caused by forcing banks to issue loans to people who would not normally qualify all in the name of “equity”. Right now, inflation is way down, GDP is up and we have trillion of dollars of committed investment coming into the country. Relax.

Keep your mouth shut and your head down. Major layoffs this year as the economy falls apart like 2008.

For the negative Nellies, a few friends of mine reached out to vent about Dell again. They mentioned all the crazy posts here, once again, just like when I was in the trenches with them. Curiosity brought me back to peek in, as my notifications are still active. I’ve not even thought to look here for over a year. I just thought I’d share the same advice I gave my friends. Hello friends! :)

Take it for what it is. No need to be bitter mate.

Why in the heck do you return after many months or even years to talk about your Dell experiences about being laid off?

No one cares.

Another BS post trying to console those who are left. Is life better after Dell? Maybe?

Follow your own advice and move on.

It has taken me 2 years to realize how lucky I am to have been laid off. I really feel sympathy for those who feel trapped.

I thought I had many friends at Dell, but they forgot me as soon as I left.

Fortunately, I have seen the light and am feeling optimistic for the time in many years.

@OP I left years ago and it was the best decision I made. Here is my advice for anyone looking to leave. Buy yourself time. Get a sick note for stress and use that time to look for something else. Max that time out. Dell in the UK would pay 70% of your salary if you're on sick leave.

You are right. I did about 24 years at EMC then 6 years of the dell cr-p. I and several other RTS's volunteered for a severance package. Life is good after dell.
