Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Visited store today, people seem scared

Hope CEO reassures them not to fear about their jobs and give them the holidays back. Take care of people and they will take care of business. Say nice motivating words, it will energize them. Please, I beg.

@c3 That’s just people complaining. Why would they feel scared? No, the CEO isn’t walking around with a goal of instilling fear. If the store closes it’s because it costs more to run then they make in profit. It’s business and they aren’t in the business of paying people “just because”.

@OP I would expect keeping employees fearful may be intentional. When you eliminate all positive motivators, then all you have left is fear and intimidation.

@av It was the elimination of a paid benefit, a pay cut, plain and simple. If you work every single holiday (not sure who would choose to do that), then yes, your pay would remain the same. Take just one holiday off and it is a pay cut.

Nobody lost their holiday pay. If you work it you get double pay. I’d you don’t you don’t. Plain and simple.
