Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

More micromanaging, higher expectations...No incentive

Imagine expecting low salary Store Managers to drive these changes with broken equipment at the end of it's life cycle, angry employees on the heels of a 2% raise in November, and non stop harassment and threats about numbers/store condition/customer experience/etc.

Oh but wait, the bonus at the end of the year could be worth it (unless we decide to give you zero).

Even donkeys aren't d-mb enough to keep marching forward unless they see an actual carrot hanging in front of them.

Sycamore is either blind with greed or absolute imbeciles to think this business model will work.

Earth to Sycamore...monthly bonuses paid out to create a REAL INCENTIVE, or enjoy watching your investors lose faith as your promised above market average returns falls short.

@th

When you file your taxes at the end of the year, the IRS taxes you based on your income bracket.

If you do not like the amount of tax taken out of your bonus then you could decrease the tax amount before the payout.

At the end of the year you pay the same percentage tax on the same amount of money, whether it was paid to in a bonus or a standard paycheck.

I sincerely hope you're not managing money for anyone.

@cf Bonuses are a joke! They are taxed heavily, not easy to use for pre-tax benefits (401k contributions, HSA/FSA), it raises taxable income potentially putting you in a higher tax bracket, and some states also take more taxes on bonuses. Bonuses benefit the employer because they can take them away any time they want! Bonuses are not an incentive to me. I’d rather have a base pay increase any day!

@OP Your post sums it up well but ii seems to assume that Sycamore actually intends to turn Walgreens around. Not sure that's their plan.

Ever been to a successful store without a motivated store manager lol

All the stores they send me to "help" have no store manager or a very weak one.

Store condition across the company was at their best years ago when store managers KNEW they were going to be FAIRLY compensated for all of their extra time and effort.

Monthly bonus would absolutely prove to me that extra effort pays off.
