I learned from a recruiter yesterday that when you submit an application to a job board etc., do not put work history on your resume over / past 20 years. Apparently, the AI screening tools will automatically reject the resume if "they" see anything older than 20 years. Good luck out there!

@zh The tips we're being taught is to not put any dates on education and only 20 yrs or less on work (btw...I'm paying to get this assistance / course). Some even advise to leave off physical location on resume.

This is simply to get passed the ATS (applicant tracking system).

Once through ATS and when you secure an interview, then expand on your work history.

Make sure your LinkedIn matches your resume EXACTLY (another thing the ATS counts off on).

For higher views on LinkedIn: Highest to Lowest scores are -

1) Header
2) Titles
3) About section
4) Past experiences
5) Skills
6) Connections - *very important to get 501 + connections
7) Get at least 4 recommendations

The banner # Open To Work on your LinkedIn profile photo gets you 4x the views.

Also, they are now doing AI interviews and AI testing traps. One person had a phone call and it was an AI interview. They were totally caught off guard by it.

On resumes, prioritize accomplishments ( not just key words) and list at least 6 skills. No bullet points, no fancy lettering or graphs because the ATS will kick you out immediately.

Most important question in the interview is "tell me about yourself" - get relevant skills from job posting and apply what you know, can do, etc.

Job hunting is very challenging now, so hope this helps someone.

With all the re-orgs you should be able to list out each new title as a different role and cover 10+ years easily as 2 or 3 "different" roles while obfuscating the duration of your employment

@OP I understand only putting the most recent experience on the resume, makes sense to me. However, when you get to the part of the interview when they ask you to “tell me about yourself”, do you also omit the first x-x years of your career if you’re a 20+ year veteran? At some point it’s gonna come out and employers will see you’re pushing 50-60.

LinkedIn advice:

1) On "Past Experiènces" - information must match resume (# of jobs, dates and titles). Do not go past 15 years.

2) Do get recommendations.

3) Do not put dates down on Education because it will date you and we all know ageism still exists, unfortunately.

Always print to PDF, do not apply with a .doc/.docx file.
But yes, it needs to be easily readable both by the Application Tracking System, and a real person.

Additionally, use plain fonts only, no graphics or graphs and a docx document only
